About the role
NewGen US - Account Director, West Coast (Contract to Hire)
About NewGen
NewGen is a global social creative and creator agency of over 100 people, with offices in London, Manchester, Paris and New York. We partner with leading brands to shape culture, tell stories that matter, and harness social-first creative and creators to drive real impact. We bring together data, strategy, creativity and innovation to make work that cuts through, connects and creates conversation.
Founded by our 30-under-30 co-founders, NewGen is independent and privately owned, built to challenge the big networks and stale traditional agencies. We move fast, live social, and know our fresh ideas can compete with anyone.
Our work is trusted by brands including Pepsi, Samsung, Amazon, SEGA and CashApp. We're also the agency of choice for creators shaping culture today, from KSI and Amelia Dimoldenberg to PewDiePie. Gaming is our heritage: we grew up in it, and it remains one of our deepest areas of expertise.
Our non-negotiables
- Energy: Get involved, be heard, and contribute. This isn't the place for an easy ride. We want people who bring energy and ideas.
- Quality: Quality comes first. If it doesn't feel right, speak up. Everything we create should push boundaries.
- Collaboration: We win as a team. No egos, no judgment, just support and collective success.
- Creativity: We thrive on fresh thinking. New ideas and bold approaches keep us moving forward.
- Partnership: Be a great partner to our clients. Everything we do should deliver on their objectives and create a positive, collaborative experience. This is paramount.
The role
We're hiring a West Coast Account Director with deep gaming experience, starting on a contract with a clear intention to convert to a full-time permanent role. This is a chance to help build NewGen's West Coast presence from the ground up, close to the publishers, platforms and creators driving the games industry.
You'll combine strategic vision with hands-on leadership. You'll lead gaming and entertainment clients, bring energy and clarity to your team, and build lasting partnerships. You'll balance creativity with commercial focus, guiding the team to deliver socially-led work while keeping a sharp eye on growth and profitability.
Above all, we want someone who can be a trusted advisor to clients, a motivating leader to their team, and a driving force in growing NewGen on the West Coast.
Location: West Coast, Los Angeles or San Francisco preferred. Remote-first, with regular travel to client sites, industry events and our New York office.
What you'll do
- Lead gaming client relationships: Act as senior point of contact for publishers, platforms and gaming brands. Understand their release calendars, player communities and commercial goals well enough to be a true partner.
- Lead and inspire your team: Manage and mentor a growing account team across time zones, building a collaborative, high-performance culture.
- Own commercial responsibility: Oversee account profitability and growth. Spot opportunities to expand relationships and make sure work lands on time, on budget and to the highest standard.
- Deliver strategic thinking: Guide innovative, socially-led campaigns, creator programs and launch activations that push creative boundaries and deliver measurable impact.
- Grow the West Coast business: Use your network to open doors, support new business pitches, and help establish NewGen as a go-to gaming partner on the West Coast.
- Champion collaboration: Work closely with creative, strategy, influencer and production teams in the US and UK for seamless delivery.
- Shape the future of the agency: Bring entrepreneurial energy and fresh thinking as we build our US footprint.
Social first x gaming culture
Being socially native is at the heart of everything we do. We're not an advertising agency. We live and breathe culture, constantly plugged into the trends, conversations and creators shaping the world.
In this role, that means knowing gaming culture from the inside: the streamers, YouTubers and TikTok creators players follow, the communities on Twitch, Discord and Reddit, and how a launch or live-ops moment plays out online. You'll translate that insight into work that feels authentic, bold and social-first.
It's ok to be "chronically online". It helps if you're a player too.
What we're looking for
Essential
- 8+ years managing large accounts or global clients in a fast-paced agency environment
- Proven experience leading gaming clients (publishers, platforms, hardware or esports) on social, influencer or creator work
- Deep knowledge of gaming creators, streaming platforms and player communities
- Strong network across the West Coast gaming and creator space
- Track record of growing accounts and winning new business or pitching creative campaigns
We'd love you to have
- Experience with game launches, live-ops beats, creator programs or esports activations
- Ability to translate creative ideas into measurable business results
- Familiarity with influencer marketing and content strategy across platforms
- Exceptional presentation and communication skills
- Experience mentoring or developing junior team members, including remotely
- Comfort with project management tools
Contract, compensation and benefits
Engagement: Initial 3-month contract, with the intention to convert to a full-time permanent role.
Compensation: $120,000 to $160,000 annualized, depending on experience.
On conversion to full-time, you'll receive:
- 30 days holiday (not including federal holidays), plus an office closure over the December holidays that sits outside vacation days
- Health care plan (medical, dental and vision)
- Retirement plan (401k, IRA)
- Paid time off (vacation, sick and public holidays)
- Family leave (maternity, paternity)
- Training and development
