About the role
Description
The Account Executive is someone who loves turning a warm introduction into a signed client. You'll own new business across the Baton Rouge market, working leads that come from our speaking and community presence, our marketing, and our partners, including Microsoft. You won't be cold-calling from an empty list. You will be expected to move fast, run a clean process and close.
About Sparkhound
Sparkhound is a Microsoft-first technology consulting and managed services company headquartered in Baton Rouge, with offices in Birmingham and Houston. We help organizations get real results from Microsoft 365, Azure, Power Platform, data and AI, and we run IT and applications for clients who want a partner they can call.
Big enough to deliver. Close enough for lunch. Our clients know the people who design their solutions are the same people who build and support them. Results, Not Regrets.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work every lead fast. Contact new leads within one business day and get a first meeting on the calendar within two weeks.
- Run the full sales cycle. Discovery, solution shaping with our consultants, proposals, pricing conversations and close.
- Sell two ways. Projects (Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Power Platform, Azure, data and AI) and monthly managed services (IT support, security, application support and AI operations).
- Grow what you win. Turn first projects into ongoing managed services relationships and expansion work.
- Show up in Baton Rouge. Attend local business, industry and Microsoft events, and co-host client lunch-and-learns with our team.
- Partner with our channel team. Work referrals from Microsoft and other technology partners alongside our partnerships lead.
- Keep a clean pipeline. Log activity in HubSpot and keep opportunities current in NetSuite so forecasts are honest.
- Bring the team in. Pull in our consultants, engineers and leadership at the right moments, and hand off cleanly to delivery.
What success looks like in your first year
- First 30 days: you know our offers and pricing, you've shadowed our sellers and consultants, and you've called every open opportunity you inherit.
- First 90 days: you own all new Baton Rouge leads, you've held at least 12 first-time meetings, and you've closed your first deal.
- By mid-year: you have a healthy, real pipeline that mixes projects and managed services, and partners know your name.
- By year end: you're at full quota run rate, with a growing set of clients who buy both projects and monthly services from us.
Requirements
- 5 to 10 years of B2B technology sales, with a track record of meeting quota.
- Experience selling IT services, managed services or cloud solutions, ideally with a Microsoft partner or MSP.
- Comfort selling both projects and recurring monthly services, and explaining the difference to a buyer.
- A consultative style: you ask good questions, listen, and can talk business outcomes with owners, CFOs, COOs and IT leaders.
- Speed and follow-through. You treat every lead like it matters and you never let one go cold.
- CRM discipline. HubSpot, Salesforce or similar; you keep your pipeline honest.
- Based in, or willing to relocate to, the Baton Rouge area.
Nice to have
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure, Power Platform or Copilot.
- Experience working Microsoft co-sell or partner referrals.
- An existing network in Baton Rouge business, healthcare, banking, energy, construction or nonprofit communities.
- Interest in AI and how businesses are putting it to work.
