Spring Co-op – Audio Acoustic Systems
Are you passionate about audio and interested in seeing how innovative audio systems move from an idea to a working prototype? Join the Audio Acoustic Systems team and gain hands-on experience supporting the research and development of next-generation audio technologies.
As a Spring Co-op, you’ll work alongside experienced engineers on a fast-paced development project where no two days may look exactly the same. You’ll take acoustical measurements, analyze real-world data, evaluate prototypes, and tackle short-term research projects that help the team answer important technical questions.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being hands-on, is curious about how things work, and is motivated to take ownership of problems and find solutions.
What You’ll Do
- Support research and development activities for new and emerging audio technologies.
- Take and analyze acoustical measurements of loudspeakers, audio systems, and prototypes.
- Set up and conduct acoustic tests using laboratory and prototype measurement equipment.
- Use MATLAB to process, analyze, and visualize measurement data.
- Work directly with engineers to evaluate prototypes and investigate system performance.
- Design and develop audio tunings in concept vehicles.
- Take ownership of short-term research projects designed to answer specific technical questions.
- Analyze results and communicate findings and recommendations to the engineering team.
- Document test methods, results, and conclusions so your work can be shared and built upon by others.
- Adapt to changing priorities and technical challenges as part of a fast-moving development program.
- Gain hands-on experience developing and evaluating cutting-edge audio systems.
What We’re Looking For
- A BS or MS student in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Acoustical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Junior or Senior standing.
- Proficiency in MATLAB; basic MATLAB coding or scripting experience is a plus.
- A passion for audio and an interest in acoustics, loudspeakers, signal processing, or audio system development.
- A self-motivated individual who is comfortable taking ownership of assignments and working independently.
- Someone who enjoys hands-on testing, experimentation, and solving technical problems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where priorities and technical challenges can evolve quickly.
- Good organization and communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical findings.
Nice to Have
Experience with acoustical measurements, signal processing, loudspeakers, audio systems, data acquisition, or laboratory testing is a plus, but not required. Experience using MATLAB to automate measurements, analyze data, or create visualizations is also beneficial.
What You’ll Gain
This co-op is an opportunity to do more than observe. You’ll contribute directly to active R&D work, gain hands-on experience with audio measurement and system development, and see how engineering decisions are made as new technologies move from research toward real-world applications.
If you’re passionate about audio, enjoy solving problems, and want an opportunity where your work can make a real contribution to the team, we’d like to hear from you.
