Afterschool Program – Activities Assistant

Job Summary:

Activity Assistants support the physical, emotional, and nutritional well-being of students through structured recreational activities and assistance with snack distribution. These staff ensure the safety and supervision of students in active settings and help maintain documentation that supports compliance with NJDOE Section D: Health, Safety, and Nutrition. Adjuncts are essential to providing a safe, energetic, and health-conscious afterschool environment.

Position Details:

Minimum Education: High School Diploma

Time Commitment: Part Time - 15 Hours per Week Monday through Friday, 2:30 PM – 5:30 PM (whenever school is in session)

Salary Range: $16 – $20 per hour

Contract Type: This is a year-to-year position contingent on grant funding and requires annual renewal.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead recreational activities and support movement-based programming

• Distribute USDA-compliant snacks and track delivery/schedules

• Uphold emergency protocols and maintain student safety

• Monitor pick-up procedures and supervise transitions

• Maintain confidentiality and health documentation access as needed

• Support safety drills and emergency readiness planning

Qualifications/Requirements:

• CPR/First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain)

• CHRI, CARI, fingerprinting, physical exam, and TB test required

• Bilingual candidates strongly encouraged to apply

• Experience supporting students with IEPs or high ACE scores is highly valued
