Position Title: Product Owner - Data Analytics
Reports To: Manager of Product Office
Location: Hybrid – Onsite Tuesday–Thursday; Remote Monday & Friday
Department/Sub: Tech/OCIO
Employment Type: Full-Time
Starting Salary: $80,000 (DOE)
What This Role Is…
As a Business Analyst and Product Owner for Data & Analytics, you'll be the bridge between CITY HOME's business leaders and our technology team. You'll work with executives, department leaders, and associates to understand the questions they need answered and the decisions they need to make, then translate those needs into clear requirements that our technology team can build against. You'll own the backlog for data and analytics initiatives and make sure what gets built delivers the insights the business actually needs.
This role is not a hands-on engineering or dashboard development position. Your focus is on discovering needs, defining requirements, and ensuring delivered solutions meet them.
What You’ll Do…
As a Business Analyst/Product Owner – Data Analytics your primary responsibilities will be to:
- Lead requirements gathering sessions with stakeholders to understand business processes, reporting needs, and the decisions behind them.
- Translate business questions and KPIs into clear requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria that the technology team can execute.
- Define what data is needed, where it lives, how it should be defined, and what success looks like for each initiative.
- Own and prioritize the product backlog for data and analytics initiatives, balancing stakeholder requests with technical feasibility.
- Serve as the voice of the business in Agile ceremonies, including Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Review, and Retrospectives.
- Validate delivered dashboards, reports, and data products against business requirements, and drive user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Help establish consistent metric definitions and data governance standards so stakeholders across departments speak the same language.
- Present analytics priorities, KPIs, and product updates to business stakeholders and senior leadership.
What We’re Looking For…
Competencies and Job Specific Skills
- Proven experience as a Product Owner or Business/Data Analyst supporting data, analytics, or BI initiatives.
- Strong understanding of data analytics concepts, including data warehousing, ETL/ELT pipelines, and BI/reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker).
- Ability to translate ambiguous business questions into clear data requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Experience prioritizing and managing a product backlog using Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills — able to work with both technical data teams and non-technical business leaders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with comfort interpreting data to inform product decisions.
- Familiarity with data governance, data quality, and metric standardization practices.
- Experience working with SQL or querying data directly is a plus.
- Familiarity with Jira and Confluence for backlog management and documentation
What’s Required…
Education & Work Experience
- 3–5 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Product Owner, or Data Analyst, with a track record of gathering requirements and delivering data or reporting solutions.
- Proven ability to interview non-technical stakeholders, uncover the real business problem behind a request, and document it clearly.
- Strong analytical skills and comfort reading, interpreting, and questioning data to inform decisions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain technical concepts to business leaders and business needs to technical teams.
- Experience managing a backlog using Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Familiarity with BI and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker, from a consumer and requirements perspective.
- Working knowledge of Jira and Confluence for backlog management and documentation.
- Valid Florida driver's license.
Nice to Have
- Experience working directly with a data or engineering team on requirements for reporting, dashboards, or data platforms.
