About the role
Job Title: Business System Owner
Job Purpose:
We are seeking a Business Support Owner to join the Systems Lifecycle & Strategy team.
As a Business Support Owner, you will be accountable for one or more Good Practice, or Good x Practice (GxP), regulated business systems throughout their complete lifecycle. This will cover initial validation, adoption, ongoing development, release and change management, system improvement, and eventual decommissioning.
You will ensure that assigned systems remain fit for purpose, compliant, inspection-ready, and capable of delivering measurable value to the business. You will translate business priorities and user requirements into clear system roadmaps, balancing change demand, risk, business value, and available capacity.
You will also contribute to a consistent portfolio-wide understanding of system health, adoption, compliance, risk, and business value through standard Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Objectives and Key Results (OKRs), and scorecard frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic System Ownership: Maintain a deep understanding of the business processes your system supports. Map system roadmap priorities to business outcomes and proactively identify when a system should be invested in, fixed, consolidated, or decommissioned.
- Release & Change Management: Own end-to-end release readiness: coordinate change control, manage validation evidence packaging, run stabilisation reviews post-release, and track release quality metrics. Minimise business disruption through predictable, well-communicated releases.
- Validation & Compliance: Execute and maintain computer system lifecycle validation/qualification activities in accordance with internal GSK procedures and applicable regulatory standards. Operate an assurance-first validation approach to reduce effort and calendar time without compromising compliance posture. Acts as the accountable party during regulatory inspections and internal audits, ensuring system documentation, access controls, and audit trails demonstrate ongoing compliance.
- Adoption & User Experience: Drive measurable user adoption: develop training materials, coordinate change communications, monitor adoption curves, and act on System Usability Scale (SUS) data and user feedback to continuously improve the user experience.
- Support & Continuous Improvement: Monitor and act on support signals help desk data, repeat issues, Tier 1 resolution rates converting them into roadmap improvements and stakeholder communications. Target measurable reductions in support friction over time.
- Portfolio Scorecard & Reporting: Own your system's scorecard, maintain current lifecycle phase, health Red, Amber and Green (RAG), top risks, and decisions needed. Contribute to the monthly Systems Lifecycle & Strategy Leadership Team (SLS LT) performance pack and quarterly system landscape reviews with decision-ready insight.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Governance: Serve as the primary point of contact for your assigned business system(s). Build and maintain effective relationships with business owners, Global Process Owner (GPOs), Quality Assurance (QA), Information Technology (IT), and vendor partners. Represent system needs and priorities in governance forums.
- Resource & Capacity Visibility: Track effort by system and work type to support SLS capacity model. Proactively flag capacity constraints and contribute to quarterly prioritisation and trade-off discussions.
- BSO Community & Mentorship: Participate actively in the Business Support Owner (BSO) community of practice. Share best practices, contribute to playbook development, and support the onboarding and development of less experienced BSOs.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in scientific, technical, business or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience with the pharmaceutical, life-sciences, or an equivalent regulated industry
- Experience with GxP-regulated system validation, managing systems, projects, or products through the full lifecycle.
- Experience with United States Food and Drug Administration (US FDA) 21 CFR Part 11, European Union Good Manufacturing Practice (EU Annex 11), and relevant International Council for Harmonisation requirements.
- Experience with system decommissioning or portfolio simplification.
- Experience partnering with leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver & translate business requirements into technical and process solutions
- Experience in usage of data, metrics, and performance information to support decisions with stakeholder-management across cross-functional and global teams.

- Experience managing technology vendors, software providers, or commercial agreements.
- Experience in help-desk or support analytics to identify recurring issues and improvement opportunities.
- Experience reporting system health, compliance, adoption, performance, and risk to leadership teams.
