The Role
An opportunity has arisen for a Josephine Butler College student to become more involved in supporting the academic, creative and intellectual life of the College. The successful student will work closely with Jill Forbes, Assistant Customer Services Manager: College Libraries, as well as with library interns from other Durham colleges, to help maintain and enhance the College Library and associated study spaces.
The role will involve supporting the smooth operation of the Library, promoting its resources and services, and helping to ensure that the Library remains a welcoming and effective study environment for students. The post-holder will also undertake regular monitoring of the College Art Room, helping to ensure that the space remains tidy, well-maintained and appropriately equipped for student use.
This internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience of library and information services, customer service, facilities management, project work and student engagement within a collegiate university environment. As some responsibilities require regular monitoring of College facilities, the role may particularly suit a student who lives in College accommodation.
Role Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Vice Principal and following appropriate training, the student will:
· Assist with the day-to-day operation and promotion of the Josephine Butler College Library.
· Work closely with Jill Forbes, Assistant Customer Services Manager: College Libraries, and the Vice Principal to support the development and curation of the College Library collection.

· Assist with the promotion and display of new and existing library resources.
· Collaborate with library interns across other colleges to share ideas and contribute to library initiatives across the collegiate University.
