- Act as a strategic business partner to the CEO and management team, providing financial insights to support growth, investment, financing, project selection, and resource allocation decisions.
- Oversee the financial performance of the EPC project portfolio, establishing robust financial controls throughout the entire project lifecycle, from contract award and procurement to construction, commissioning, and final close-out.
- Monitor project budgets, actual and committed costs, estimated costs to complete (ETC), estimated costs at completion (EAC), and Work in Progress (WIP), ensuring accurate reporting and timely identification of cost overruns or margin deviations.
- Review project profitability and financial forecasts, challenging assumptions around productivity, procurement costs, subcontractors, contingencies, and remaining project costs in collaboration with Project Managers and operational teams.
- Monitor project revenue, billing, receivables, retention amounts, contract assets and liabilities, supplier commitments, and subcontractor obligations, ensuring effective cash-flow forecasting and working-capital management.
- Oversee variations, claims, change orders, and other contractual developments that may affect project revenue, costs, profitability, or cash flow.
- Ensure accurate financial statements and management reporting in accordance with applicable accounting standards and IFRS, with particular emphasis on IFRS 15 and revenue recognition for long-term EPC contracts.
- Ensure consistency between project progress, costs incurred, financial forecasts, revenue recognition, and reported margins, including the appropriate accounting treatment of contract assets, liabilities, accruals, provisions, and loss-making projects.
- Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, coordinate external audits, and maintain effective relationships with auditors, banks, tax advisers, and other financial stakeholders.
- Drive annual budgeting and periodic forecasting, implementing rolling forecasts across P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and project portfolio performance.
- Develop financial dashboards and KPIs to provide management with clear visibility into revenue, EBITDA, project margins, WIP, backlog, cash generation, receivables, working capital, and project risk exposure.
- Lead treasury and liquidity management, ensuring reliable short- and medium-term cash-flow forecasts and improving cash conversion across projects.
- Optimize customer billing and collections, supplier and subcontractor payment terms, and working-capital requirements to support the company’s financial stability and growth.
- Manage relationships with banks and financial institutions, overseeing bank guarantees, performance guarantees, advance-payment guarantees, and other financial instruments required under EPC contracts.
- Establish and continuously strengthen the internal control framework, including financial authorizations, purchasing, subcontracting, project expenditure, payment approvals, and order-to-cash and procure-to-pay processes.
- Identify and mitigate financial, contractual, and project-related risks that could affect profitability, cash flow, or liquidity, ensuring appropriate financial controls across the organization.
Requirements
- Significant experience in senior finance leadership roles, such as CFO, Finance Director, or Head of Finance/Controlling.
- Proven experience in EPC, construction, renewable energy, infrastructure, engineering, or another project-based environment.
- Strong hands-on experience managing Work in Progress (WIP), long-term projects, project costs, and profitability at individual project level.
- In-depth, practical knowledge of IFRS, particularly IFRS 15 and revenue recognition for long-term contracts.
- Proven expertise in project controlling, including cost-to-complete (ETC), estimate at completion (EAC), project margin forecasting, and financial risk assessment.
- Strong experience in budgeting, rolling forecasts, financial modelling, cash-flow forecasting, and working-capital management.
- Experience managing contract assets and liabilities, variations, change orders, claims, and project-related financial commitments.
- Solid understanding of treasury, banking, internal controls, statutory reporting, and financial audit requirements.
- Experience working closely with Project Managers, Operations, Procurement, and senior management to monitor project performance and challenge financial assumptions.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong ERP and financial reporting capabilities.
- Hands-on and operational, with the ability to investigate project-level financial details and identify potential issues early.
- Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to understand contractual terms and translate them into financial implications.

- Highly analytical, structured, and detail-oriented, with a strong focus on financial accuracy and accountability.
- Able to establish effective financial processes and controls within a growing and evolving organization.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with shareholders, senior executives, auditors, banks, and operational teams.
