We are looking for a highly experienced, practical and hands-on civil construction professional with a strong multidisciplinary background, capable of managing different types of civil works simultaneously, coordinating multiple construction teams and subcontractors, and ensuring efficient use of manpower, machinery, equipment and materials. He/she must have extensive experience in construction methods, work sequencing, heavy equipment operations, temporary works and structural construction, with a strong focus on production, productivity, cost efficiency, safety, quality and achievement of construction targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organize, coordinate and supervise the daily execution of civil engineering works across multiple construction areas and work fronts.
- Coordinate foremen, supervisors, direct labor, subcontractors, equipment operators and construction teams involved in civil works.
- Supervise and coordinate earthworks, site preparation, clearing, excavation, backfilling, grading, compaction, soil improvement, and associated activities.
- Supervise the execution of drainage systems, including open channels, culverts, reinforced concrete drains, box culverts, underground drainage networks, catch basins and associated hydraulic structures.
- Coordinate foundation works, including piling activities, pile caps, footings, ground beams, and other substructure elements.
- Supervise reinforced concrete works, including formwork, falsework, reinforcement installation, concrete pouring, curing and associated construction activities.
- Coordinate the execution of structural elements, including columns, piers, pier heads, abutments, retaining walls, bridges, viaducts and other reinforced or prestressed concrete structures.
- Supervise temporary works, including cofferdams, excavation support systems, shoring, working platforms, temporary access roads and construction staging areas.
- Coordinate heavy machinery and equipment, including excavators, cranes, piling rigs, dump trucks, compactors, concrete pumps and other specialized construction equipment.
- Organize multiple construction fronts according to the approved construction programme, site access conditions and established production priorities.
- Ensure adequate allocation and efficient utilization of manpower, materials, equipment, machinery and temporary resources.
- Coordinate subcontractors and construction teams to avoid interference, idle resources, rework and unnecessary delays.
- Ensure proper coordination between earthworks, drainage, foundations, structures and other civil engineering activities, identifying and resolving construction interfaces before they affect production.
- Ensure works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, technical specifications, method statements, construction procedures and quality requirements.
- Monitor daily progress, productivity, equipment utilization and performance of direct labor and subcontractors.
- Identify opportunities to optimize construction methods, work sequencing, manpower allocation, equipment utilization and overall production costs.
- Anticipate manpower, machinery, material, access, logistical and temporary works requirements to maintain continuity of construction activities.
- Identify construction constraints and technical problems in advance, proposing practical and cost-effective solutions in coordination with the Construction Manager and Technical Office.
- Coordinate concrete pouring operations, reinforcement installation, formwork cycles and associated structural construction activities to maximize productivity.
- Ensure proper management of excavated materials, backfilling operations, disposal areas, haulage routes and construction logistics.
- Coordinate inspections, testing and quality control activities with the QA/QC team, ensuring compliance with project requirements.
- Ensure appropriate control of construction tolerances, levels, alignments, compaction requirements and structural workmanship.
- Coordinate with the HSE team and ensure full compliance with project safety requirements, particularly during lifting operations, excavations, working at height, heavy equipment operations and temporary works.
- Ensure proper housekeeping, access, traffic management and organization of all construction areas.
- Report daily progress, productivity, site constraints, resource requirements and potential delays to the Civil Construction Manager.
- Support short-term and weekly construction planning, ensuring agreed production targets, construction milestones and deadlines are achieved.
- Take a proactive role in identifying and resolving production bottlenecks, maintaining continuous construction progress across the different work fronts.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Minimum 10–15 years of proven experience in civil engineering construction, preferably in major infrastructure projects involving earthworks, drainage, foundations and reinforced concrete structures.
- Extensive experience as a Civil Works General Superintendent, General Foreman, Civil Works Foreman, Senior Civil Superintendent or equivalent senior site supervision position.
- Strong practical and hands-on knowledge of earthworks, excavation, backfilling, grading, compaction, drainage systems and associated civil engineering activities.
- Extensive experience in reinforced concrete construction, including foundations, pile caps, columns, piers, pier heads, retaining walls, bridges and viaduct structures.
- Good practical knowledge of piling operations, foundation construction, temporary works, cofferdams, excavation support systems and construction staging.
- Proven ability to coordinate several construction fronts, subcontractors, direct labor teams and heavy equipment simultaneously.
- Strong experience in organizing and optimizing construction resources, including manpower, machinery, equipment, materials and subcontracted activities.
- Solid understanding of construction methods, sequencing, temporary works and interfaces between different civil engineering disciplines.
- Ability to read and understand civil, structural, geotechnical and drainage drawings, construction details and technical documentation.
- Good practical knowledge of heavy construction machinery, lifting equipment, excavation equipment, piling rigs and concrete construction equipment.
- Experience in managing construction productivity, equipment utilization, production targets and operational costs.
- Previous experience in railway infrastructure, highways, bridges, viaducts, metro systems, major drainage projects or other large-scale civil engineering projects will be considered a strong advantage.
- International construction experience will be highly valued.
- Strong leadership skills and proven ability to manage large construction teams, foremen, equipment operators and subcontractors.
- Highly site-oriented, practical and hands-on professional, with strong problem-solving capabilities and the ability to make operational decisions directly on site.
- Strong production-driven mindset, with particular attention to productivity, cost control, resource optimization and achievement of construction deadlines.
- Ability to anticipate construction problems, identify critical activities and implement practical solutions to maintain progress.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality and compliance with project construction requirements.
- Good command of English is required, with the ability to communicate effectively with international management, engineers, supervisors and subcontractors on a daily basis.
- Availability and willingness to work in an international and multicultural environment on a major infrastructure project.
- The ideal candidate will be a highly experienced civil construction professional with a strong generalist background, rather than a specialist focused exclusively on one discipline.
- We are particularly interested in candidates who have developed their careers directly on construction sites, progressing through operational and supervisory positions and acquiring extensive practical experience in earthworks, drainage, structural concrete and major infrastructure construction.
- The priority is to recruit a strong site leader capable of independently organizing construction activities, managing multiple teams and subcontractors, optimizing resources and driving production across different civil engineering disciplines.
- The successful candidate must be comfortable working directly on site, resolving day-to-day construction problems, coordinating heavy machinery and labor resources, and ensuring that planned production targets are consistently achieved.
