About the role
Flagship Pioneering is a scientific innovation engine that invents and builds companies that change the world. We bring together the greatest scientific minds with entrepreneurial company builders and assemble the capital to allow them to take courageous leaps in human health, sustainability, and beyond.
What sets Flagship apart is our ability to advance biotechnology by uniting life science innovation, company creation, and capital investment under one roof in a way that is largely without precedent. Our team of scientists, entrepreneurial leaders, and professional capital managers are each aligned around an institutionalized process that enables us to innovate and create breakthroughs for the benefit of people and planet.
Many of the companies Flagship has founded have addressed humanity’s most urgent challenges: vaccinating billions of people against COVID-19, curing intractable diseases, improving human health, preempting illness, and feeding the world by improving the resiliency and sustainability of agriculture.
Flagship has been recognized twice on FORTUNE’s “Change the World” list, an annual ranking of companies that have made a positive social and environmental impact through activities that are part of their core business strategies, and has been named four times to Fast Company’s annual list of the World’s Most Innovative Companies.

- Assist the CPA team to develop and refine communications materials, including briefing documents, presentations, visual assets, newsletters, and promotional content for internal and external audiences.
- Coordinate cross-functional inputs, timelines, reviews, and approvals to help ensure communications projects move efficiently from concept through execution while flagging risks or delays to leads.
- Support planning and logistics for internal and external events, including team meetings, Town Halls, convenings, and leadership engagements.
- Help maintain team operating rhythms, including weekly meetings, project trackers, calendars, budget and billing processes, and monthly reporting.
- Coordinate vendor and agency processes, including invoice reviews, purchase order processing, contract reviews, and project-related logistics.
- Help maintain communications and brand assets so that materials are current, organized, and easy for colleagues to find and use.
- Support the management of employee headshots, biographies, and other profile materials in coordination with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
- Contribute to special projects and other communications priorities as the team and organization evolve.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 1 year of relevant experience in communications, public relations, marketing, project management, events, or a related field.
- Strong organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a sharp eye for detail, consistency, and quality.
- Brings creativity and strong visual instincts to the development of communications and design assets, as well as event concepts and experiences; able to help translate ideas into engaging, polished materials across channels.
- Comfort drafting and editing a range of communications materials for different audiences.
- Collaborative working style and ability to build productive relationships across teams, levels, and external partners.
- Resourceful, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
