About the role
Why join us
This is a key role for Argos, giving you the opportunity to shape how we manage conduct and compliance risk across our Financial Services propositions.
As our Conduct & Compliance Manager, you’ll be our subject matter expert, helping us navigate an evolving regulatory landscape while ensuring we continue to meet our FCA obligations and deliver good outcomes for customers.
You’ll own our Conduct & Compliance Framework, provide trusted advice and challenge to senior stakeholders, and lead our day-to-day relationship with the FCA. It’s a role with real breadth and visibility, where you’ll have the opportunity to influence decisions, strengthen our approach to compliance and make an impact across the business.
What you’ll do
You’ll take the lead on conduct and compliance across our Financial Services propositions, owning and continually developing our Conduct & Compliance Framework and leading our approach to risk assessment, monitoring and regulatory change.
You’ll keep ahead of developments in the regulatory landscape, helping the business understand what they mean and translating complex requirements into clear, practical actions. You’ll also lead our risk-based Compliance Monitoring Plan, providing appropriate oversight across our business, suppliers and partners.
A key part of the role will be leading our day-to-day relationship with the FCA, coordinating regulatory requests, reviews, visits, notifications and applications. You’ll act as our compliance expert for Consumer Duty and lead the compliance framework supporting SMCR, ensuring we have the right oversight and processes in place.
Alongside this, you’ll provide trusted advice and constructive challenge to stakeholders across the business, including senior management and governance committees. You’ll bring clarity to emerging regulatory risks and issues, support effective decision-making and help ensure we continue to deliver good outcomes for our customers.
Essential criteria
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- Significant experience in a senior compliance or regulatory risk role within a UK-regulated financial services business.
- Strong working knowledge of the FCA Handbook and regulatory requirements relevant to consumer credit.
- Strong practical knowledge of Consumer Duty and SMCR.
- Experience engaging directly with the FCA and a strong understanding of its supervisory approach.
- Experience translating complex regulatory requirements into practical business requirements, controls and solutions.
- Experience designing or delivering risk-based compliance monitoring and oversight.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with confidence working with senior and Board-level stakeholders.
- Strong judgement and the ability to reach well-reasoned conclusions when dealing with complex or incomplete information.
