Charleston, SC | Full-Time | Monday–Friday | Day Shift | No Weekends
About the Role
Southern Lumber & Millwork Corp. is a third-generation, family-owned and operated building materials and custom millwork company that has served Charleston and the Lowcountry since 1941. We are looking for an experienced carpenter or custom woodworker to join our Custom Door Shop in Charleston, SC.Our team creates one-of-a-kind custom interior and exterior wood doors primarily for custom residential homes throughout Charleston and the Lowcountry. Every project is different, giving our craftsmen the opportunity to work with a variety of designs, wood species, architectural styles and construction techniques.
As part of our Door Shop team, you will help turn drawings and specifications into finished doors built specifically for each home. You will work alongside experienced craftsmen while combining traditional woodworking techniques with modern tools and technology.

What You'll Do
- Build custom interior and exterior wood doors for high-end residential projects
- Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints and specifications
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble and finish wood components with accuracy
- Work with a variety of wood species, door styles and custom designs
- Use woodworking machinery, hand tools and modern shop technology
- Maintain a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail
- Work closely with other members of the Door Shop team to complete projects safely and efficiently
- Learn and apply both traditional woodworking techniques and new methods of custom door construction
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 3 years of custom woodworking or carpentry experience
- Experience with architectural millwork, furniture making, door building or similar precision woodworking is a plus
- Ability to read drawings, blueprints and measurements
- Strong attention to detail
- Pride in quality craftsmanship
- Willingness to learn and be coached
- Dependable, hardworking and team oriented
- Ability to manage time effectively while maintaining quality
