About the role
At GSK we are looking for a capable technical builder to join our Data-flow team (who design and govern the data-flows that GSK’s Research & Development (R&D) division runs on). If you believe data should move on its own and still arrive trusted, then this role could be for you.
The Data Flow Specialist role sits within the Data Value Office (DVO) for the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) organization of GSK’s Research & Development (R&D) function.
This role is focused on delivering data-flows-as-product, compliance-as-code, and governance built into the pipeline (instead of bolted-on). You will turn scattered systems and sources into modular, reusable, end-to-end flows in one consistent format that can be used to its full potential throughout GSK’s R&D divisions. Your mission is to make R&D data visible, trusted and automation-ready (by default) so teams can decide faster and scale agentic solutions with confidence (whilst keeping the human expert in the loop). The role combines hands-on delivery of curated and integrated data-flows with coaching and peer-review (to hold the team's work to industry best practice).
Key Responsibilities (include..):
- Design, develop and maintain modular end-to-end data-flows (spanning roles, interfaces, data and metadata, triggers and access) and integrate systems and data sources into trusted, reusable assets across R&D (this will includes writing clean, readable code where required).
- Ensure data-flows support compliance-by-design, integrating, contextualising and orchestrating data and systems in line with compliance principles.
- Deliver pre-packaged, curated data-flows aligned to business requirements (for functional leads and R&D Tech teams), including documented data specifications that describe processing steps required to generate each flow.
- Integrate diverse data flows such as protocol development, DSUR and clinical trial IHD into a unified machine readable format for consistent implementation and a genuine end-to-end data ecosystem.
- Ensure deliverables are appropriately quality controlled, documented and, where required, able to be handed over to function leads and the R&D Tech team for scale implementation.
- Provide coaching and peer review to ensure the team's work reflects industry best practice for data flow creation activities, including data standards.
Location: GSK HQ London, Stevenage, or Ware R&D.
Please Note: If the successful applicant is based at Stevenage site: This role will temporarily be based at Stevenage. However, the Company plans to relocate its offices to Cambridge, UK. About You:
Please note that this role is not a documentation role. We are looking for a technical subject matter expert with experience of delivering date-flow solutions. As this role is multi-faceted and includes collaborating / liaising with a wide variety of stakeholders and matrix teams you must have experience of working in a complex matrix-environment, with demonstrable clear problem-solving approach to your work.
