Position Overview
The Director of Application & Database Development is responsible to create, deliver and maintain technology solutions. The Director is also responsible to ensure the smooth and effective operation of applications and 24/7 availability of the systems.

The Director of Application & Database Development is primarily responsible for:
- Manage applications & software engineering to deliver technology solutions in support of business strategy and growth
- Manage a broad portfolio of technology projects
- Lead with technical expertise in the development of systems and applications
- Evolve an agile delivery model that employs a collaborative, open and prompt interaction between intent providers and technology execution
- Collaborate with stakeholders to plan and prioritize software deliveries, assembling releases and overall IT roadmap plans
- Work with stakeholders in the business to identify and define the next opportunities and drive a game changing strategy, driven by technology, to deliver those opportunities
- Effectively manage third party vendors and suppliers
- Leverage understanding of technical architectures, capacity plans, tools requirements, automation, and product implementation plans
- Research new tools and technologies for use within the team
- Lead triage of incidents, determine Root Cause and creating lasting solutions
- Guide & strengthen Development & DBA Teams
- Hire and train top talent
- Establish clear expectations
- Coach team to drive towards valued ‘consultant’ relationship with users
- Pro-actively manage low performers
- Motivate, mentor and lead the application engineering talent
- Partner in the development of IT roadmap and project solutions
- Work with IT Leadership to define key projects
- Dynamically adjust plans, to meet business needs
- Ensure solutions are in alignment with roadmap
- Communicate the roadmap, internally & externally
- Monitor & improve processes
- Own & work on Continuous Improvement of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Ensure the priority of deliverables & delivery schedules are clear
- Drive adoption/improvement of processes & improvements (e.g., time tracking & incident response)
We are seeking candidates with the following experience and skills
- Education: BS/BA Degree in Computer Science, Business or related field
- Management Experience: 10+ years leading technical groups
- Leadership: Experienced leader that can manage remote & local teams/portfolios, solve problems and empower employees to achieve success in a fast-paced organization
- Platform Expertise: Experience in implementing technologies/applications such as AX, MS CRM, BI, MS Technologies, Cloud, Java, Oracle will be an added advantage.
- Technologist: Strong engineering and technology background with the ability to go deep into technology solutions (ability to roll-up sleeves is crucial for success)
- Motivated: Must have deep technical credibility with engineering organizations and ability to recruit top talent
- Passionate: Can bring energy and enthusiasm to the job and organization
- Entrepreneurial: Flexible, resourceful, figure-it-out-and-get-it-done mentality
- Communicator: Excellent listener; proven collaborator with superiors, peers and staff
