Red Ventures Growth & Transformation empowers partners through a unique blend of high-scale proprietary distribution, data models, AI-enabled applications, and strategic client partnerships. We help our clients unlock significant and sustainable growth across the home services and financial services ecosystems, ranging from telecommunications and deregulated energy to credit cards and deposits. As a Red Ventures company, we have more than 20 years of experience building strategic, long-standing relationships with some of the world’s most powerful brands across industries like financial services, retail, real estate, and entertainment.
We believe the next phase of advantage will come from integrated operating systems that connect decisioning, execution, intelligence, and governance into a shared foundation that improves over time. RVGT is investing in that future through our Growth Operating System, a set of reusable workflows, agents, context layers, and governance mechanisms designed to help our teams and our partners drive growth more efficiently, more intelligently, and at greater scale.
As Director of Engineering, you will lead the engineering organization behind a client's acquisition and digital operations, including the managers and tech leads who build AI-native products and agentic workflows. You will own the technical delivery commitment and the senior relationship with the client's product, technology, and data leaders. You will set the strategy, connect technical decisions to measurable business impact, and build a team that delivers it. Your engineering background is deep enough to review designs, step into the work when needed, and mentor others.
What You’ll Do
Technical Leadership
- Lead, coach, and grow engineering managers and tech leads, and hold them accountable for delivery, quality, and team health.
- Set the org's technical strategy, roadmap, and operating rhythm, and make sure the team's work ladders to client and business outcomes.
- Hire and retain senior engineering talent, and build succession and career paths.
- Set expectations for how the team works with coding agents and agentic workflows, and champion the standards that make that work safe and repeatable.
Client Delivery & Partner Leadership
- Serve as the senior engineering partner to client executives and stakeholders across product, technology, and data.
- Turn partner objectives and experimentation insights into technical roadmaps with a clear success metric and baseline, and hold that scope.
- Present trade-offs, risks, and results to senior leaders in business terms, and build confidence in the path from opportunity to measurable impact.
- Lead through deployments, incidents, and sensitive conversations, and get partner teams and vendors to resolve issues on their side.
Systems & Agentic Delivery
- Actively learns and builds with agents and pushes learnings down to team.
- Guide architecture decisions across systems built on React, Next.js, Go, and AWS, with infrastructure in Terraform.
- Review designs and agent-generated plans, and step in hands-on when the team needs it.
- Ensure delivery meets contractual obligations (SLAs, data handling, audit) and security, privacy, consent, and accessibility requirements.
- Partner cross-functionally with product, data, operations, and other RVGT engineering leaders to reuse components and share what works.
What We’re Looking For
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years leading engineering teams and at least 2 years managing managers or tech leads.
- A strong engineering foundation across modern web, cloud, and distributed systems, including digital acquisition and conversion experiences (funnels, checkout and application flows, partner integrations, experimentation, and compliance in the flow), with enough depth in React, Next.js, Go, AWS, and Terraform to evaluate designs and contribute when required.
- Demonstrated strategic judgment: you tie technical decisions to business impact and can explain trade-offs to executives in plain terms.
- Experience owning client or partner relationships, including crises and sensitive conversations, ideally in a services, agency, or partner-facing environment.
- Familiarity with agentic systems and AI-assisted development, including how to govern them with evals, guardrails, and clear specs, and the ability to mentor others in that workflow.
- Experience building and scaling engineering organizations, including hiring, performance management, and developing leaders.
- Experience with contractual and regulatory obligations (SLAs, audit, OWASP, WCAG, GDPR/CCPA), ideally in financial services.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including design docs and updates for business and technical readers.
Compensation:
Total Cash Compensation Range: $145,000 – $260,000 per year
New York City Total Cash Compensation Range: $181,250 – $325,000 per year
This role is also eligible for Equity, which is offered separately from the total cash compensation listed above. Actual compensation varies based on location, experience, and qualifications.
