This role will ensure HR and Payroll technology investments deliver scalable, efficient, secure and reliable solutions that support business operations, enhance the employee experience, and enable data-driven decision-making. This role requires the ability to move seamlessly between defining a long-term technology roadmap, translating complex business requirements into practical solutions, and executing hands-on configuration within Workday.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the strategy, roadmap, architecture, and operational effectiveness of Fullsteam’s Workday ecosystem, ensuring platform capabilities align with business priorities, organizational growth, and evolving operational needs.
- Oversee Workday Core HCM, U.S. and Canada Payroll, Benefits, Advanced Compensation, Talent, Recruiting, Learning, Time Tracking, and Absence Management.
- Establish a scalable approach to platform management that balances new capabilities, system optimization, operational stability, technical debt reduction, and adoption of emerging technologies and Workday releases.
- Serve as a trusted technical and functional advisor to HR, Finance, Payroll, IT, and business leaders, providing guidance on Workday architecture, cross-functional dependencies, solution design, and downstream operational impacts.
- Lead complex Workday initiatives from discovery and requirements gathering through solution design, configuration, testing, deployment, and post-implementation support. Translate business needs into functional and technical specifications while identifying opportunities to improve processes and challenge existing assumptions.
- Design, configure, and optimize Workday business processes, condition rules, calculated fields, security, organizational structures, and other platform capabilities. Troubleshoot complex issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions that balance scalability, user experience, technical complexity, and business value.
- Establish and execute testing strategies, including functional, regression, and user acceptance testing, while maintaining accurate technical documentation, configuration standards, and solution records.
- Establish and continuously improve Workday governance, change management, release management, and service delivery processes, including intake, prioritization, impact assessment, approvals, testing, deployment, incident management, and ongoing support.
- Maintain a prioritized portfolio of enhancements, remediation initiatives, and optimization opportunities. Identify ways to simplify processes, reduce manual work, improve data quality, strengthen system controls, and increase operational efficiency.
- Establish proactive monitoring, audit practices, and performance metrics to evaluate platform reliability, service quality, delivery effectiveness, data integrity, and realized business value.
- Partner with stakeholders to standardize Workday processes while accommodating legitimate business, operational, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead the evaluation, adoption, and optimization of Workday-native artificial intelligence capabilities, including Sana, and develop a roadmap for incorporating AI and automation into HR and payroll processes.
- Identify and prioritize automation opportunities that reduce repetitive administrative work and improve productivity, accuracy, scalability, service delivery, and employee self-service. Partner with HR, Accounting, IT, Security, and other stakeholders to ensure AI-enabled capabilities meet readiness, governance, security, and responsible-use requirements.
- Drive adoption and measure the effectiveness of AI and automation initiatives through solution design, stakeholder engagement, training, change management, and success metrics such as time savings, reduced manual intervention, improved accuracy, and user adoption.
- Lead, coach, and develop Workday professionals responsible for administration, configuration, business analysis, and platform support. Establish clear accountability, performance expectations, development plans, and delivery standards while fostering knowledge sharing, cross-training, and continuous improvement.
- Maintain hands-on technical involvement to guide solution design, validate quality, resolve complex issues, and support execution while building the team's technical and functional capabilities.
- Manage relationships with Workday consultants, implementation partners, and managed service providers. Establish clear ownership and accountability between internal teams and external partners, evaluate partner performance, manage support costs, and reduce unnecessary third-party reliance.
- Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, problem-solving, accountability, and continuous learning while partnering with HR, Finance, Payroll, and other stakeholders to improve workforce data accuracy, consistency, and integrity.
- Oversee Workday security architecture, role-based access controls, segregation of duties, integrations, and downstream data flows to ensure systems are reliable, secure, appropriately monitored, and compliant with internal policies.
- Support internal and external audits through effective documentation, controls, reporting, analytics, and system governance.
