About the role
As a District Sign Technician, you are the quiet architect behind a maintenance section’s visual rhythm, transforming roads and highways into guided pathways and cities and towns into navigable stories. Every sign you install is more than metal and paint. It is a promise of clarity, safety, and connection. You blend precision with creativity, ensuring that every directional arrow, warning sign, roadway marker, and traffic signal serves its purpose while contributing to a visually cohesive transportation system. Whether braving the elements to repair a stop sign, maintaining traffic signals, or meticulously aligning signage as part of maintenance contract upgrades, your work shapes how people travel, discover, and interact with the communities they call home. Through your dedication and attention to detail, signage becomes more than instruction. It becomes guidance, confidence, and an invitation to explore the road ahead.

District Sign Tech I (A16): $40,918 - $61,130/yearly
District Sign Tech II (A17): $42,976 - $64,469/yearly
District Sign Tech III (A18): $45,521 - $71,055/yearly
The Texas Department of Transportation reserves the sole right in determining the level of position offered based on the applicant's skill level, education, work experience, and all other appropriate factors and based on business needs.
