About the role
Tech journalist looking for a new challenge?
ITP Media Group is revamping its technology portfolio and setting a bold new editorial direction.
Today’s tech audiences discover news and analysis on social and video first, so the portfolio will lead with short-form video and daily news across social and web, supported by long-form video on YouTube and a monthly print magazine. In-person conferences, industry awards and roundtables will also play a central role.
Based at ITP’s Media City HQ in Dubai, the Editorial Lead will reset the portfolio’s editorial scope, reshape its content formats and creative identity, and lead its output across web, social, video, print and events.
Responsibilities
Set a bold new editorial direction for ITP Media Group’s technology portfolio, defining the topics it will cover, the audiences it will serve and the content types it will produce across social, web, video, print and events.
Reimagine the portfolio’s creative concept, including its voice, visual identity, content formats and recurring series, working with the Group Publishing Director, Group Editor and creative team to bring the revamp to life.
Lead the daily output of news and analysis across social and web, ensuring stories are accurate, published quickly and optimised for engagement, reach and audience growth on platforms including Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X and LinkedIn.
Build and oversee a video strategy that prioritises short-form content for social platforms and long-form YouTube series, features and interviews.
Identify emerging platforms, formats and trends in short-form video and social, and advise on how the portfolio should adopt them to grow its audience.
Pitch, research and execute high-impact stories on the technology sector, including product launches, policy shifts, major deals and emerging trends, with a focus on the Middle East and its place in global markets.
Develop and maintain a network of key contacts, including C-suite executives, founders, product leaders, regulators and researchers across the GCC and globally, and conduct interviews on camera and in writing.
In-person events will be central to the portfolio, so the Editorial Lead must be comfortable securing and hosting high-profile speakers from government and the public sector, and moderating panel discussions and fireside chats.
Commission and manage internal and external writers, videographers, designers and creators, and edit, proof and publish all content to ensure it is accurate, on brand and aligned with the editorial strategy.
Plan and deliver the monthly print magazine from commissioning through production, editing and sign-off, on time, ensuring its content complements the digital output rather than duplicating it.
Work closely with the Arabian Business editorial team on shared commissions, cross-brand stories, audience development and promotion, while establishing the revamped portfolio’s distinct identity.
Track audience and engagement metrics across social, web and video, analysing performance and providing regular reports to the Group Publishing Director and Group Editor.
Oversee the portfolio’s events calendar with the events team, and partner with the sales and commercial teams on sponsored content while protecting editorial integrity.
Key skills
Deep knowledge of technology, with a proven track record covering consumer tech, enterprise tech or both, and the ability to explain complex subjects clearly and quickly.
Strong creative and editorial judgement, with the ability to reset a portfolio’s scope, voice and content formats while building on existing audiences.
Strong video production skills, including scripting, shot planning and post-production workflows for both vertical short-form and long-form YouTube content.
Comfortable on camera.
Experience leading and developing an editorial team, setting clear goals for output, quality and growth.
Confident use of analytics tools and social management platforms, including on-platform insights and third-party tools, and an understanding of how tech content performs across social, web and video.
Familiarity with UAE and regional media law and international press ethics, with a commitment to accuracy and copyright compliance.
Fluent spoken and written English. Arabic is a strong advantage.
