In this role, you’ll direct the design and engineering of electrical systems for new builds—including power distribution (4160V, 480V, 240V, and 120V), lighting, grounding/bonding, and special systems—while collaborating with architects, engineers, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated, constructible solutions.

You’ll manage complex projects, oversee budgets, and mentor electrical design staff while driving quality and client satisfaction. This position offers the opportunity to lead high-impact architectural projects from conceptual design through construction administration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and execute electrical systems design for advanced and complex building projects in compliance with codes and standards.
  • Lead coordination with architects, engineers, designers, and external stakeholders to ensure complete and constructible designs.
  • Develop narratives, reports, drawing packages, and specifications for large-scale projects with minimal oversight.
  • Provide advanced support for construction activities including RFIs, submittal reviews, punch lists, and progress reports.
  • Manage project budgets and electrical scope for small, medium, and large projects.
  • Identify and resolve complex non-compliant conditions during site walks and field surveys.
  • Conduct quality reviews of design calculations, documentation, and technical approaches for complex projects.
  • Mentor and train junior engineers and designers on advanced electrical design topics.
  • Lead systems design programming and master planning for advanced projects.
  • Support proposal development, design task identification, and project scheduling for electrical discipline scope.
  • Interface with clients and external partners to ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Participate in professional development activities and client meetings.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or Engineering Technology.
  • 15 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in an AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) firm.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration in good standing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced experience in electrical system design and engineering calculations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; basic knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Advanced knowledge of GMP manufacturing environments.
  • Expert understanding of electrical codes and standards (NFPA, IESNA, UL, OSHA, IEEE).
  • Advanced experience applying building codes and troubleshooting electrical systems.
  • Strong coordination skills across disciplines and with construction trade partners.
  • Ability to lead field surveys and provide advanced reporting.
  • Willingness to travel for client development, project execution, and training.
