Position Summary

The EMT provides Basic Life Support (BLS) pre-hospital care and transportation to appropriate healthcare facilities. This role is responsible for patient triage, emergency care, clinical procedures, and supporting the safety and security of assigned facilities. Patient care is provided under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and, when appropriate, a physician.

Responsibilities

✅ Provide BLS pre-hospital patient care and transportation to appropriate healthcare facilities

✅ Assess and prioritize patients based on the acuity of their condition through effective triage

✅ Deliver emergency care, including non-invasive procedures and other approved interventions as directed by a physician

✅ Perform clinical procedures and provide patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and physician as appropriate

✅ Demonstrate knowledge of aseptic technique, anatomy and physiology, and emergency medical practices in the pre-hospital setting

✅ Adhere to departmental standards, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements

✅ Assist with facility security by verifying designated entrances are secured as required

✅ Provide first-line security support if secured entrances are breached until law enforcement arrives

Qualifications

✔ Current EMT certification in the applicable state

✔ Strong knowledge of emergency medical services, patient assessment, and triage

✔ Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations

✔ Excellent communication and teamwork skills

✔ Commitment to delivering safe, compassionate, patient-centered care

Applicable Experience:

Less than 1 year

Basic Life Support - American Heart Association or Red Cross, Emergency Medical Technician (KS) - Kansas Board of Emergency Medical Services
