About the role
Ready to take the next step in your contracts leadership career? Join Worley in Perth as the Contracts Director dedicated to a major EPC project in the resources and energy sector. As a member of the project leadership team, you will lead end-to-end contracts and commercial delivery for that project—not a corporate or functional contracts portfolio. This permanent staff opportunity offers genuine scope to make your mark, influence project outcomes and grow within senior project leadership. Relocation support may be available for the right person.
The opportunity
You will have direct accountability for the full contracts and commercial portfolio of the assigned EPC project, spanning contracting strategy, tendering, negotiation, award, administration, claims and close-out. Your focus will be establishing robust project-specific commercial frameworks and ensuring contractors deliver safely, on schedule, within budget and in accordance with their contractual obligations.
From shaping the project contracting strategy and commercial model to overseeing critical packages, negotiations, risk allocation, change management and claims resolution, you will have the autonomy to establish the commercial foundations for successful EPC delivery.
What you'll do
- Set the contracting and commercial direction for the assigned EPC project, translating its delivery priorities, risk appetite and execution objectives into practical project contracting plans.
- Lead and inspire contracts and commercial teams while building trusted relationships with client executives, senior project leaders, contractors, legal advisers and key stakeholders.
- Create a visible, collaborative and accountable commercial culture where disciplined contract management, timely decisions and proactive risk resolution positively shape project outcomes.
About You
- A relevant degree in law, commerce, quantity surveying, engineering or a related discipline is preferred, although substantial equivalent experience will also be valued. Strong knowledge of construction law and EPC contracting principles is essential.
- Around 20 + years of experience across contracts, commercial management or procurement, including senior leadership responsibility on major EPC projects.
- Proven EPC project experience including the formation and administration of major construction, equipment and services contracts, ideally within the resources or energy sectors.
- An engaging, visible leadership style and the commercial judgement and communication skills to negotiate effectively, build accountability and influence high-value decisions.
- Confidence working with client executives, senior management, legal counsel, contractors and diverse project stakeholders in a complex EPC delivery environment.
