About the role
Description
At R & R Bronec Grain & Cattle, we’re a family-owned grain and cattle operation in Montana’s Golden Triangle. We’ve doubled in size over the last few years, and we’re building the team and systems to support our next stage of growth.
Join Our Team!
We’re seeking an experienced, hands-on Farm Lead to help direct day-to-day crop operations and lead our operators in the field and shop. We’re open to candidates with either a mechanical or an agronomy focus. If you’re a skilled operator who takes pride in well-prepared equipment, healthy crops, and a team that performs, this opportunity is for you!
The Team
R & R Bronec Grain & Cattle is a family operation built on preparation, hard work, and taking care of our people. We plan our work in weekly team meetings, invest in training, and believe good systems free everyone up to do their best work.
Why You’ll Love This Role
As the Farm Lead, you’ll:
• Lead, train, and coach operators on equipment, safety, and SOPs, and coordinate weekly fieldwork plans with management.
• Run harvest operations, including truck traffic, loads, and storage, and operate sprayers, air drills, combines, swathers, tractors, and semis.
• Keep precision ag systems running (guidance, variable rate, and machine control) and deliver as-applied maps and field records.
• Mechanical focus: run the shop as primary mechanic, from semi brakes and repairs to seasonal prep that keeps equipment field- and road-ready.
• Agronomy focus: scout crops, recommend fertilizer and pest-control plans, and plan spray applications around weather and neighboring crops.
What We’re Looking For
• High school diploma or GED required; diesel or ag technician training (mechanical) or a degree in agronomy, crop, or soil science (agronomy) preferred.
• 5+ years of crop farm experience operating heavy equipment, ideally including leading or training others.
• Hands-on experience with John Deere combines, Viper 4 sprayers, Topcon, John Deere, and Raven controllers, air drills, MacDon swathers, and semi-trucks.
• Valid driver’s license required; Class A CDL and pesticide applicator license preferred (applicator license required for the agronomy focus).
• Willingness to work long hours seasonally in dusty, outdoor conditions, with strong communication skills and a commitment to safety.
Why You’ll Love Working at R & R Bronec:
We believe in taking care of our team, offering benefits designed to help you thrive:
• Housing: Housing may be available if needed.
• Health Coverage: Employer-sponsored health insurance for eligible employees, planned to begin in 2027.
• Modern Equipment: Work with John Deere equipment and precision ag technology.
• Invest in Your Future: Support for continuing education, including applicator licensing and safety training.
• Growth: Join an operation that has doubled in the last few years and is still growing.

Estimated Salary Range: $65,000 – $100,000 per year
*Your final offer will be tailored to your unique background, including your qualifications, certifications, experience, and training.
