About the role
About the Opportunity
We’re looking for experienced First Officers based in South Africa to join our Airbus A320 fleet, supporting contract operations across the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.
If you enjoy working with diverse teams, adapting to new environments and delivering operational excellence, this is an opportunity to expand your international flying experience.
Preference will be given to applicants who already hold an Airbus type rating.
For suitably qualified South African pilots, we offer two pathways into our EASA-regulated operation:
- Validation of your existing SACAA licence; or
- A customised training pathway to obtain the required EASA qualifications.
About the Company
Global Airways’ Lithuania operates worldwide, providing ACMI services within an EASA-regulated environment.
Our seasonal operations include destinations such as Turkey, Greece, Armenia, Moldova and Czechia, as well as South Africa. Typical rotations are six to eight weeks on, followed by three to four weeks off.
This opportunity is with our European AOC. Applicants who previously applied to Global Airways South Africa are welcome to apply.
In this role, you’ll
- Support the Captain in conducting safe, compliant and efficient flights in accordance with applicable regulations and Company Operations Manuals.
- Complete flight preparation, review operational information and monitor aircraft performance and systems throughout each flight.
- Apply standard operating procedures and effective crew resource management, communicating clearly and contributing to sound operational decisions.
- Respond to changing conditions, abnormal situations and emergencies in accordance with your training and approved procedures.
- Work closely with fellow crew members, operational teams and ground partners to support reliable operations and a positive passenger experience.
- Complete required flight documentation accurately and report safety concerns, incidents and aircraft defects through the appropriate channels.
What we’re looking for
You will need to:
- Be a South African national based in South Africa.
- Be willing to undertake international contract rotations of up to eight weeks at a time.
- Hold a valid ICAO/EASA Class 1 Medical Certificate and English Language Proficiency Level 4 or higher.
- Demonstrate sound judgement, professionalism and a strong commitment to safety.
- Work collaboratively and adapt confidently to different operational and cultural environments.
A European passport would be advantageous.
Qualification and Flight Experience Requirements
Applicants must meet the requirements of one of the following pathways:
First Officers holding an EASA CPL or ATPL
- At least 500 flight hours on turbojet aircraft or transport-category aeroplanes with a maximum take-off mass exceeding 10 tonnes or a passenger seating capacity exceeding 19.
- An EASA A320 type rating can be provided.
First Officers who have passed all EASA ATPL theoretical examinations
- At least 500 flight hours on turbojet aircraft or transport-category aeroplanes with a maximum take-off mass exceeding 10 tonnes or a passenger seating capacity exceeding 19.
- An EASA A320 type rating and the applicable EASA ATPL licence check can be provided.
First Officers seeking validation of a SACAA licence
- More than 1,500 flight hours on multi-pilot aeroplanes as Pilot-in-Command or Co-pilot.
- An EASA A320 type rating can be provided.
Ready to join us?
If you meet the requirements and are ready to contribute to a team that values safety, collaboration and operational excellence, we’d welcome your application.
Please ensure your application clearly sets out your current licences, ratings and flight experience so we can assess the appropriate pathway. Only applicants who meet the stated minimum requirements will be considered.
