Scope: Collector engagement program experiences and platform capability
About the Company
Fanatics Collectibles is a new company operating at the intersection of collectibles, culture, and technology. Backed by world-class investors, operators, and sports & entertainment partners, we are building the global leader in next-generation collectibles. As part of the broader Fanatics ecosystem, we leverage a digital sports platform that spans over 900 sports properties and engages more than 81 million fans. Together, we are reimagining every part of the collectibles experience for fans, partners, and creators.
About Topps Collector Engagement
Topps is transforming the trading card from a physical product into a connected collector experience. Through scanning, digital claiming, progression programs and partner activations, collectors can authenticate, track, unlock and redeem against the cards they own — bridging the physical product and the digital collector account.
Our Collector Engagement team builds that technology layer. The team delivers progression and quest experiences, redemption and reward mechanics, leaderboards, retail and live-event check-ins, in-venue collector moments, and the integrations that turn a scanned card into an account-level event. Programs launch against a calendar set by card releases and sports moments, so the team builds reusable platform capability rather than one-off campaign code.
The Role
We are seeking a Frontend Software Engineer to build the collector-facing experiences delivered by the Collector Engagement team.
This engineer will partner closely with Product, Design, Backend, and Platform Engineering teams to develop progression, redemption, leaderboard, check-in and scan-driven experiences that launch against a calendar set by card releases and sports moments.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test and maintain collector-facing application features and shared components for collector engagement programs
- Build scalable, responsive and resilient experiences covering progression, redemption, leaderboard and check-in flows
- Implement designs with full interaction state coverage, including loading, empty, ineligible, partially complete, expired and error states
- Collaborate with backend engineers and product stakeholders to define and implement APIs and client workflows
- Build scan and QR entry points that perform on low-end devices and constrained networks
- Write clean, maintainable and well-tested code following established frontend best practices
- Contribute to architectural discussions, technical planning and platform improvements
- Contribute to the shared component library so that each new program reuses existing building blocks
- Instrument features for program telemetry so collector actions are consistently measurable
- Optimize application performance, reliability, accessibility and user experience
- Participate in release management, CI/CD improvements and operational support
- Help improve observability, crash reporting and quality standards
- Conduct code reviews and support mentorship across the engineering team
- Stay current with frontend ecosystem trends, libraries and development patterns
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional frontend or mobile development experience
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript and modern component-based development
- Experience with a modern component framework such as React or React Native
- Familiarity with REST or GraphQL APIs, client networking, and asynchronous programming
- Working knowledge of client-side state management, caching, and degraded-network behavior
- Experience building scalable consumer-facing applications
- Ability to implement designs faithfully, including the interaction states not covered in the specification
- Understanding of application performance optimization and testing strategies
- Experience instrumenting analytics and working with the resulting data
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems
- Strong collaboration and communication skills within cross-functional environments
- Professional working proficiency in English, with daily collaboration across US-based product and engineering partners
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting marketplace, e-commerce, loyalty, or high-engagement consumer applications
- React Native experience, or exposure to native iOS or Android development
- Experience with camera, QR or NFC integration
- Familiarity with GraphQL, WebSockets, or real-time communication technologies
- Experience with analytics, experimentation platforms and observability tooling
- Animation and interaction craft for reward, unlock and reveal moments
- Passion for sports, collectibles, creators, or digital communities
Code-Writing Contribution
This role requires strong hands-on frontend development expertise. Engineers at this level are expected to independently deliver production-ready features, contribute to application architecture and technical design discussions, and maintain high standards for code quality, scalability and user experience consistent with role expectations.
