About the role
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Global Outage Parts Planning Manager based in the United States.
We are seeking an experienced planning professional to lead global outage parts planning and drive operational excellence across complex power generation service operations. In this role, you will oversee the development of recommended parts lists tailored to specific equipment technologies, outage requirements, and contractual coverage. You will ensure the right components are available at the right time, supporting safe, efficient outage execution while minimizing delays, costs, and operational risks. Working closely with field service teams, outage managers, engineering specialists, suppliers, and sourcing partners, you will optimize inventory utilization and strengthen planning accuracy. You will also drive continuous improvement through data analysis, standardized processes, and performance monitoring. This fully remote opportunity combines technical expertise, strategic coordination, and cross-functional collaboration in a global energy environment focused on reliability, productivity, and sustainability.
Accountabilities
- Lead the creation and delivery of unit-specific recommended parts lists for standard unit opening, inspection, and closing activities, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
- Establish and apply standardized parts planning methodologies by equipment technology, tailoring recommendations to outage scope, contractual coverage, and specific operational requirements.
- Assess outage scope inputs and changes in collaboration with outage planning managers and field service teams to determine their impact on parts requirements and availability.
- Identify and define spare parts requirements for non-standard outage activities, including technical information letters (TILs), auxiliaries, balance of plant (BOP), and generator-related work.
- Compare recommended parts lists against on-site inventory and optimize proposed orders by leveraging available fleet inventory, existing spare parts, and relevant parts programs.
- Ensure parts are available at the required location and time to support outage execution, prevent critical-path delays, and maintain operational continuity.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date planning systems, tools, and documentation to ensure parts recommendations and planning deliverables are traceable and reliable.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with outage planning managers, field service teams, auxiliary equipment original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and sourcing teams to anticipate requirements and resolve issues proactively.
- Apply field service and outage execution experience to develop and refine standardized parts lists across equipment technologies in collaboration with engineering and product development teams.
- Drive continuous improvement in outage parts planning processes by tracking recommended-list accuracy, identifying recurring issues, and implementing corrective actions.
- Analyze planning performance, identify opportunities to improve productivity and resource utilization, and support the achievement of team and business key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Apply technical expertise and sound judgment to resolve complex planning challenges, manage competing priorities, and develop practical solutions.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement while supporting operational standards and effective contingency planning.
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in engineering, supply chain management, operations, or a related discipline.
- Advanced experience in field service execution and planning, including experience as a Technical Field Advisor (TFA), Outage Manager, or in a comparable power generation service role; alternatively, significant experience in gas power engineering or materials management.
- Strong understanding of outage planning processes, spare parts requirements, equipment maintenance activities, and the operational challenges associated with power generation outages.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret outage scope requirements, assess parts needs, develop recommended lists, and coordinate materials availability for complex service activities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and product lifecycle management (PLM) tools, with the ability to manage planning data, maintain accurate documentation, and support analytical decision-making.
- Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills, including the ability to evaluate inventory levels, identify discrepancies, optimize parts recommendations, and improve planning accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to coordinate effectively across technical teams, field personnel, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple activities independently, meet deadlines, and exercise sound judgment in a dynamic operational environment.
- A proactive, detail-oriented, and collaborative approach to identifying risks, resolving planning challenges, and improving operational processes.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and engage colleagues, promote teamwork, and maintain high standards of integrity, safety, and accountability.
- A continuous-improvement mindset, with the energy and enthusiasm to lead change, challenge existing practices, and implement more efficient and standardized planning methods.
- Experience working with auxiliary equipment suppliers, sourcing teams, or cross-functional engineering groups is an advantage.
