Description
Work Hard. Take Pride. Make a Difference.
Do you enjoy working outdoors, staying active, and seeing the results of your hard work? Are you someone who takes pride in keeping properties looking their best?
If you're dependable, hardworking, and ready to roll up your sleeves, we want you on our team!
Knoxville's Community Development Corporation (KCDC) is looking for a motivated Groundskeeper to help maintain clean, safe, and welcoming residential communities throughout Knoxville.
This isn't your typical lawn-mowing job! We're looking for someone who enjoys tackling outdoor projects, clearing overgrown areas, maintaining landscaping, and lending a hand wherever needed.
Your hard work will make a visible difference in the communities our residents call home!
What You'll Be Doing:
As a member of our maintenance team, you'll spend your days working at various KCDC properties, taking on a variety of hands-on projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Taming the outdoors! Clear brush, trim overgrown vegetation, remove weeds, and keep landscaped areas looking great.
- Putting your tools to work! Safely operate weed eaters, chainsaws, hedge trimmers, edgers, and other grounds maintenance equipment.
- Sprucing things up! Spread mulch, prune shrubs, maintain flower beds, and help improve the appearance of our communities.
- Keeping our properties clean! Remove debris, perform general grounds cleanup, and help maintain safe, attractive outdoor spaces.
- Spotting what needs attention! Take initiative when you see something that needs to be cleaned, trimmed, or improved.
- Being a team player! Assist with other maintenance-related projects and duties, especially during bad weather or when groundskeeping work is limited.
- Working safely! Follow safety procedures, properly maintain equipment, and look out for your coworkers and residents.
Good to know: Routine lawn mowing is not a primary responsibility of this position. Our groundskeeping team focuses on vegetation management, brush clearing, landscaping, property cleanup, and a variety of other outdoor maintenance projects.
What We're Looking For:
You don't need to be a landscaping expert, but you do need to be reliable, motivated, and ready to work!
Our ideal candidate:
- Enjoys working outdoors and isn't afraid to get their hands dirty.
- Has experience with landscaping, groundskeeping, or similar hands-on work.
- Knows how to safely use landscaping equipment, including weed eaters, chainsaws, and other power tools.
- Takes pride in doing a job right, even when nobody is watching.
- Shows up on time, works hard, and can be counted on to get things done.
- Can work independently while also being a dependable member of a team.
- Notices problems and takes initiative rather than waiting to be told what to do.
- Understands basic weed control practices and herbicide safety, or is willing to learn.
- Is flexible and willing to help with different maintenance tasks as needed.
Rain or Shine — We're Getting the Job Done!
Here's what you should know about this position:
- Full-time: 40 hours per week.
- Outdoor work: You'll work in a variety of weather conditions, including hot Tennessee summers, cold winter days, and rainy weather.
- Physically active: This position involves frequent walking, standing, bending, lifting, reaching, and performing manual labor.
- Heavy lifting: You must be able to regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
- Variety: You'll travel between KCDC properties and may assist with other maintenance duties as needed.
Why KCDC?
At Knoxville's Community Development Corporation, our work is about more than maintaining buildings and properties. We're helping create communities where people are proud to live.
Every landscaped area you maintain, every overgrown space you clear, and every property you help improve contributes to a cleaner, safer, and more welcoming environment for our residents.
You'll be part of a team that takes pride in its work and understands that even the smallest improvements can make a big difference.
Ready to Dig In?
We're looking for someone who shows up, works hard, takes initiative, and takes pride in a job well done.
