About the role
G MASS are working with a leading global financial market infrastructure provider to appoint an HR Risk & Control Manager to join their first line Risk & Control function.
The firm is in the process of redesigning its HR operating model and control environment with the support of an external consultancy, and is looking for an experienced risk and control professional to represent the first line throughout that work. The successful candidate will play a central role in shaping how HR controls are designed, evidenced and assured, both today and in the target state. This is a high-visibility position with direct exposure to senior leadership, suited to someone who is comfortable forming an independent view, defending it with confidence and helping drive a programme forward at pace.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the Risk & Control team’s representative in operating model and control design workshops alongside the external consultancy
- Assess the current and future state HR control framework, covering both key mandatory controls and softer process-level controls
- Identify, evaluate and recommend mitigations for risks across HR processes and the wider people function
- Provide first line challenge to the business, testing whether controls are in place, operating effectively and whether issues are being self-identified
- Review the consultancy’s findings and recommendations, raising challenge where control assurance has not been adequately demonstrated
- Present and justify assessments to the Risk & Control management team and senior stakeholders, influencing outcomes and decisions
- Help accelerate delivery of the wider project and programme
Requirements
- Strong background in risk and control, ideally within a first line of defence or control assurance role in financial services
- Solid understanding of how HR operating models, processes and controls work
- Proven ability to identify, assess and mitigate operational risk
- Confidence engaging with and challenging senior stakeholders and external advisors, with the ability to articulate and back up a position clearly
- Strong influencing and communication skills
Desirable
- Experience on control uplift, remediation or operating model change projects
- Exposure to working alongside Big Four or other consultancy firms on transformation programmes
