About the role

Kolomoni Microfinance Institution (Gambia) is a CBG-licensed microfinance institution serving customers across The Gambia through a growing branch network. We are recruiting an HR Officer to run our HR operations.

THE ROLE
You will handle HR end to end — recruitment, employee records, payroll input, the performance cycle, employee relations and statutory compliance. It is a hands-on operational role in a growing institution, and the standard is simple: every employment action correct, documented and defensible.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Run the recruitment cycle: advertise, screen, schedule, reference, and prepare offers and contracts.
  • Prepare the written particulars of employment required under the Labour Act 2023, within the statutory period.
  • Maintain complete and secure employee records and keep the HR system current.
  • Prepare payroll inputs for approval, and reconcile payroll outputs against them each cycle.
  • Administer leave, attendance and staff benefits, and escalate recurring absence patterns.
  • Support investigations, disciplinary and grievance processes, and keep the records that make an outcome stand up.

Requirements

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Two to four years in a generalist HR role, preferably in banking, microfinance or another regulated institution.
  • Practical experience of recruitment, payroll input, employee records and running a performance cycle.
  • Working knowledge of the Gambia Labour Act 2023, and of SSHFC and PAYE obligations.
  • HRIS administration experience — SeamlessHR an advantage — and strong Excel.
  • A first degree in human resource management, business administration, psychology, law or a related discipline. CIPD is an advantage.
  • Absolute discretion with confidential information, and the firmness to hold a process when it is inconvenient.
