Enjoy genuine location flexibility while leading complex building projects across Aotearoa and internationally. You can be based in any of our regional offices in Aotearoa, and while combined hydraulics and fire protection experience is preferred, we welcome specialists with deep expertise in either discipline. This is an opportunity to join a growing specialist capability, influence how we deliver hydraulics and fire protection across our projects, and work alongside a nationally connected Building Services team.
What you’ll do
You will play a key part in leading practical, high-quality building services solutions across major local and international projects, bringing specialist hydraulics capability and fire protection knowledge to a collaborative multidisciplinary team.
· Lead the delivery of hydraulics and fire protection design across complex building projects, from concept through to construction.
· Shape practical design solutions for gravity drainage, trade waste, domestic hot and cold water, stormwater and fire protection systems.
- Translate architectural and project requirements into coordinated, buildable services solutions.
- Provide technical guidance, review and advice to engineers and project teams.
- Work closely with architects, Fire Safety Engineers, clients and multidisciplinary teams to resolve complex design challenges.
- Contribute to projects across Aotearoa New Zealand, Australia and Asia, while helping strengthen Aurecon's specialist hydraulics and fire protection capability.
What you’ll bring
· Demonstrated technical expertise in hydraulics and/or fire protection, with the confidence to provide technical leadership on complex projects.
· Proven track record designing commercial domestic hot/cold water distribution, sanitary plumbing, foul water drainage, and stormwater systems
- You'll ideally bring 6+ years of relevant experience in building services consulting, although we're open to candidates with different levels of experience where the technical capability and discipline expertise are right.
- Hold a Washington Accord-accredited degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
- A thorough, working knowledge of the Building Act 2004, the NZ Building Code (NZBC), and the building consent process via local Building Consent Authorities (BCAs)
· Strong communication, collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills
We're open to experienced engineers at different stages of their career. Whether your depth is in hydraulics, fire protection or both, we're interested in the specialist capability you can bring.
