Infrastructure Technician

Main Function:

 

The Infrastructure Technician will plan and perform the design, installation, and connectivity of computer systems network infrastructure for all information technology solutions deployed across the vertically integrated business. The role will support assessing systems, determining problems, providing solutions to issues that arise, remedial upgrading of desktops and laptops, as well as installation and supporting audio-visual equipment.  The Technician role is also accountable for telephone (PBX), server rooms and other related electronic infrastructures for the business.

 

The Infrastructure Technician will primarily focus on:

 

• Support the planning and implementing installation, configuration, and maintenance of infrastructure assets for all divisions across the vertically integrated business and related internal customers.

 

• Inspecting and LAN and WAN infrastructure for problems, and support the Infrastructure Manger and Systems Engineer in troubleshooting system failures to increase network uptime and overall systems availability.

 

• Support the implementing of application patch scheduling by conducting operational readiness and production readiness assessments for required upgrades and patches at the direction of the Infrastructure Manager.

 

• Support the installation, assess, and optimize performance tuning needs for optimal business infrastructure operations, including monitoring across the enterprise, providing first response actions to maintain operations and continuously improve performance.

 

• Support the Infrastructure Manager with the procurement of various computing assets, by working with vendors and other team members to obtain quotes based on use cases.

 

• Operate the CB Groups support desk, by responding to tickets, taking ownership of assigned tasks, or reviewing unassigned tasks to ensure customer requests are attended in a timely manner, and provide communications to during and after issue resolution.

 

• Attend any location at the request of the Infrastructure Manager, to perform technical duties as might be needed at any time to ensure the smooth and efficient operations of the entire CB computing network.

 

 

Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, Experience:

• A degree in the computer science field is required but will consider industry certifications and years of experience.

 

• A minimum of 2+ years of experience as an Infrastructure Technician or similar role.

 

• Experience working on DELL, HP and Lenovo laptops would be an asset.

 

• Experience with infrastructure monitoring solutions is desired.

 

• Solid networking knowledge is required (DNS, DHCP, VPN, TCP/IP)

 

• Experience working within the ITIL framework for service delivery would be an asset.
