Merchology is a leading eCommerce retailer in B2B sales of co-branded merchandise including apparel, headwear, drinkware, gifts, and accessories. We are family-owned, people-powered, and we are adding to #TeamMerch at our facility in Plymouth, MN. Come see why we are a three-time Star Tribune Top Workplaces award winner!
Merchology seeks detail-oriented Seasonal Inventory Specialists to help prepare our Minnesota and Pennsylvania facilities for our annual physical inventory count. This temporary, hands-on role focuses on verifying, counting, labeling, and organizing inventory so our year-end count is accurate and efficient. After training, the ideal candidate can independently work through assigned warehouse aisles while following consistent inventory procedures.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
A Seasonal Inventory Specialist will:
- Work systematically through assigned inventory aisles, racks, bins, and storage locations to verify inventory accuracy and readiness for the annual count.
- Open cartons and boxes, verify that the product, SKU, size/color, and contents match the packaging and inventory records, and identify/correct mixed or incorrectly labeled cartons.
- Physically count units, confirm quantities and units of measure, and accurately document counts by SKU and location.
- Apply standardized inventory labels to boxes and storage locations, including item identification and verified quantities, following company procedures.
- Compare physical counts to warehouse management/ERP system balances; investigate and document shortages, overages, and location discrepancies.
- Prepare and enter inventory corrections or adjustments in warehouse management system (WMS) only after required review and approval, maintaining clear supporting records.
- Identify and pre-count slow-moving and non-moving inventory; clearly mark completed areas and preserve count integrity by following movement control procedures.
- Flag damaged, unidentified, customer-owned, returned, or otherwise unusual inventory for appropriate segregation and management review.
- Keep work areas orderly and maintain accurate progress logs; communicate completed locations, discrepancies, and obstacles to the inventory lead.
- Assist with final year-end count preparation and physical inventory activities as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; entry-level candidates and recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Basic understanding of inventory, stock locations, SKUs, and physical counting; prior inventory or warehouse experience.
- Excellent attention to detail, accurate basic math, and ability to follow a repeatable process consistently.
- Comfort working independently for extended periods after initial training, with the judgment to escalate exceptions.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheets.
- Ability to stand and walk for much of the shift and repeatedly handle/open cartons in a warehouse environment; reasonable accommodations available.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience using a warehouse management system (WMS) and/or inventory management software.
- Experience with cycle counts, physical inventory, inventory adjustments, barcode scanners, and stock labeling.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree or coursework in supply chain, logistics, operations, business, or a related field.
