About the role

Description

MeatEater, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated, strategic, and experienced professional to join our team as IT Director.

The IT Director will be responsible for leading MeatEater’s technology operations, with a primary focus on our commerce business, which spans five brands and four sales channels. This role will also provide IT support to our manufacturing and media divisions.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, leadership experience, and project management skills, along with a proactive approach to problem solving. This individual will play a key role in developing scalable systems, improving processes, and implementing technology solutions that support our growing organization. The position requires someone who can balance daily operational needs with long term strategic initiatives, effectively communicate with executive leadership, and align technology decisions with broader business objectives.

Core Responsibilities

  • ERP Management (NetSuite): Oversee and manage the company’s NetSuite ERP system, ensuring efficient order processing, inventory management, fulfillment, and accounting operations across multiple brands and subsidiaries. Identify opportunities to improve system functionality and operational efficiency.
  • Systems Integration and Platform Management: Manage and support integrations between NetSuite and other business platforms, including Shopify storefronts, Amazon and other marketplaces, third party logistics providers (3PLs), EDI systems, and accounting tools. Ensure reliable data flow and system connectivity across the organization.
  • Data Management and Reporting: Partner with Operations, Accounting, and Product teams to establish and maintain consistent data standards, item creation processes, and reporting practices. Leverage business intelligence tools to improve reporting accuracy, visibility, and business decision making.
  • Project Management: Lead and coordinate technology projects, working closely with a small internal team, external vendors, and cross functional stakeholders. Manage project timelines, priorities, budgets, and deliverables to ensure successful implementation of technology initiatives.
  • Infrastructure and Cybersecurity: Oversee IT infrastructure, system security, and cybersecurity practices to ensure reliable and secure business operations. Identify potential risks, implement appropriate safeguards, and maintain systems that support business continuity and organizational growth.

Requirements

  • 5 to 7 years of relevant IT experience, preferably within a retail, ecommerce, or consumer products organization.
  • Experience with NetSuite ERP, including Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP), as well as Celigo and Shopify.
  • Proven experience building, developing, and leading a small, high-performing technology team.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to align technology decisions and investments with operational goals, financial performance, and overall business strategy.
  • Broad technical knowledge across enterprise applications, IT infrastructure, cloud environments, cybersecurity, systems integrations, data architecture, and IT operations.
  • Experience developing and implementing AI, automation, or digital transformation strategies and roadmaps to improve operational efficiency and support business growth.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize competing initiatives, manage external vendors, and deliver results in a growing organization.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with executive leadership.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a proactive, hands on approach to identifying challenges and implementing solutions.
  • Ability to balance daily technical operations with long term strategic planning and organizational goals.

Location: Bozeman, Montana preferred, with flexibility for the right remote candidate.
