Join Our Clinician Talent Pool: Virtual Care Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Registered Nurses
Flexible, remote clinical work that improves access to care across Canada
Think Research is building a talent pool of physicians, nurse practitioners (NPs) and registered nurses (RNs) to deliver high-quality virtual care to patients across Canada.
We are always looking for clinicians to support our programs. As our virtual care programs grow, we want to connect with qualified clinicians who may be a good fit, whether you're looking for regular shifts or occasional work.
Many of our clinicians work with us part-time while continuing their primary practice in hospitals, clinics and communities. That's by design: the experience you bring from in-person care makes virtual care better. It's also why our clinicians have the opportunity to shape the direction of our programs and the care our patients receive.
About our Virtual Care Program
Think Research's Virtual Care Program combines our VirtualCare™ platform with a digital-first clinical model to improve access to care across Canada.
Our teams provide rapid patient triage, virtual consultations and coordinated follow-up care by video, phone and secure chat, reaching patients in urban, rural and remote communities. The goal is simple: better access to care and improved patient outcomes.
Ways to get involved
What you'll do depends on your profession.
Physicians and Nurse Practitioners
What you'll do
- Conduct virtual consultations, clinical triage, assessment and ongoing management across primary care, urgent care and emergency care patient populations.
- Assess, diagnose and treat patients within your scope, and issue prescriptions, lab and diagnostic requisitions and specialist referrals digitally.
- Review abnormal or critical results escalated by the nursing team and determine next steps.
- Provide clinical direction and support to RNs and Health Navigators.
What you'll bring
- Physicians: Certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) or Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) and demonstrated primary care experience. CFPC (EM) or FRCPC (Emergency Medicine) is an asset for our emergency care program. CMPA coverage is required.
- Nurse Practitioners: Registration as an NP with recent experience in primary, urgent or emergency care, and appropriate professional liability protection.
Registered Nurses
What you'll do
- Conduct virtual triage and secondary clinical assessments for patients referred through Emergency Departments, Urgent Treatment Centres, 811 and 911 pathways.
- Determine whether patients are appropriate for virtual care using established protocols and CTAS guidelines, and safely redirect those who need in-person or emergency care.
- Prepare and support patients while they wait for their virtual appointment with a Physician or Nurse Practitioner.
- Review incoming diagnostic results, action normal results within your scope and escalate abnormal or critical findings to the covering physician or nurse practitioner.
- Contact patients to communicate results and care-plan instructions, and coordinate with on-site hospital teams when patients need diagnostic testing, observation or other ambulatory care.
What you'll bring
- 3–5 years of recent experience in an Emergency Department, Urgent Care, ICU, Telehealth or Virtual Care environment.
Who we're looking for
You're an experienced clinician who makes sound decisions, communicates clearly and is comfortable working independently. You believe technology can reduce barriers to care and make clinical work more efficient. Whatever your profession, you'll bring:
- A current, unrestricted licence in good standing with the applicable provincial regulatory body (or eligibility to obtain one).
- Recent clinical experience in primary, urgent, emergency or acute care, or in a telehealth or virtual care setting.
- Strong clinical assessment, critical-thinking and time-management skills, and confidence working autonomously within your scope of practice.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust and rapport with patients you may never meet in person.
- Proficiency with electronic health records and digital health tools. Familiarity with systems such as Meditech, OPOR, Altera or Epic is an asset.
- Bilingualism in English and French is a strong asset, and is required for some provincial programs.
Why join our talent pool?
- Work remotely. Deliver care from home, wherever you're licensed to practise.
- Choose your hours. Shifts are offered in 4- or 8-hour blocks, and many clinicians work about 8–16 hours a week alongside their existing practice. Some programs run 7 am to 7 pm, seven days a week; others run 24/7.
- Use technology that works for you. Our VirtualCare platform standardizes care and streamlines documentation, so you can spend your time on patients.
- Work as a team. Collaborate with physicians, NPs, RNs and Health Navigators who share your commitment to patient-centred care.
- Have a say. We rely on our clinicians to tell us what's working, what isn't and what we should build next.
- Be first to hear. Talent pool members are top of mind for new roles as our programs expand.
