Junior Buyer

SUMMARY/PURPOSE

Entry level buyer position which performs purchasing and procurement functions for assigned area. Responsible for establishing and maintaining inventory levels to meet Company requirements for nonperishable merchandise and supplies.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Daily review and order placement utilizing the Himpact buying system to maintain excellent service levels.
• Accomplishing inventory turn, profitability and minimum aged inventory goals.
• Daily review of reporting for assigned items/vendors which include buyer out of stocks, inventory adjustments and order expediting.
• Interacts with vendors, customers and departments regarding purchasing procedures and status of orders.
• Service Level Management
• Promotional inventory projection and procurement based upon programs communicated by Category Manager.
• Communicate with Category Manager suggested item deletions.
• Maintains data information, files, reports, price lists on assigned commodities.
• Communicates to customers out of stocks, late reserve shipments, and cancelled orders through weekly bulletin updates.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• Associate's degree in business and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Computer experience including Microsoft Office applications.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Primarily a sedentary work environment
• Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment
• No or very limited physical effort required
• No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
