About the role
If you have strong commercial loan documentation experience and know how to dig into attorney-prepared loan documents, this could be a great opportunity to put that expertise to work.
First International Bank & Trust is looking for a Loan Documentation Review Specialist to join our Loan Operations team. This role requires someone who is experienced in reviewing attorney-prepared loan documentation and can confidently determine whether documents accurately reflect the approved loan structure, terms and conditions. You'll also prepare in-house loan documents using LaserPro, review business entity documentation, verify signing authority, and help ensure complex commercial loan documentation is accurate and compliant.
Experience reviewing attorney-prepared loan documentation is an important requirement for this position. We're looking for someone who has worked directly with these documents and understands how to interpret them in the context of commercial lending.
Key Responsibilities
Review and analyze attorney-prepared loan documentation to ensure it aligns with approved credit terms and bank policy, including loan covenants, financial reporting requirements and potential risk indicators.
Review and interpret corporate organizational documents, including bylaws, resolutions and related records, to evaluate governance requirements and confirm authorized signers.
Review commercial, commercial real estate and agricultural loan terms, conditions and financial components outlined in credit approval documents.
Prepare loan document packages that accurately reflect approved terms and bank policy, including notes, security agreements and mortgages, guarantees, assignments, UCC filings, subordination agreements, closing instructions and other supporting documentation.
Identify documentation discrepancies and work collaboratively with lenders, attorneys, and internal partners to resolve issues and make necessary revisions.
Develop expertise in Reserve Based Lending structures and documentation requirements and provide support for specialized RBL relationships.
Qualifications
Experience reviewing and interpreting attorney-prepared loan documentation and corporate organizational documents is required.
Associate's degree and at least four years of experience in loan documentation, credit review, bank examination, or a similar risk- or compliance-focused role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working knowledge of commercial lending documentation and the ability to understand loan terms, conditions and financial components required.
What Will Help You Succeed
A sharp eye for accuracy and detail, particularly when reviewing complex loan documentation.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify inconsistencies or concerns.
The ability to interpret business entity structures, organizational documents and signing authority.
Clear, effective communication when working through documentation questions or discrepancies.
Strong organization and self-motivation, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
