About the role
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Member of Technical Staff based in the United States.
As a Member of Technical Staff, you will play a key role in building reliable, scalable software solutions that simplify complex document workflows. You will contribute across the full engineering stack, from backend services and API development to AI integrations and user-facing product features. Working closely with engineers and domain experts, you will transform real-world user needs into practical, high-quality technical solutions. You will help bring AI-powered capabilities into production while balancing performance, accuracy, and reliability. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of projects from initial design through deployment and continuous improvement. You will join a collaborative, fast-moving engineering environment where technical excellence, autonomy, and meaningful product impact are highly valued.
Accountabilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain reliable APIs, backend services, and document processing workflows.
- Take ownership of product features throughout their entire lifecycle, from technical planning and design to implementation, release, and ongoing optimization.
- Collaborate with engineers and domain experts to develop solutions that address complex user needs and specialized workflows.
- Integrate AI and Large Language Model (LLM) capabilities into production systems, ensuring a balance between output quality, processing speed, and operational reliability.
- Work across the full stack to improve user-facing interfaces and deliver intuitive experiences for complex document-related tasks.
- Translate user requirements into actionable engineering plans, clearly communicating technical decisions, priorities, and trade-offs.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, investigate production issues, and implement improvements to system stability.
- Strengthen engineering standards through effective testing, code reviews, debugging, monitoring, and continuous improvements to code quality.
- Contribute to technical and product decisions while helping build dependable solutions for demanding, specialized business environments.
- Between 3 and 10 years of professional software engineering experience, including developing, deploying, and maintaining production web applications or services.
- Strong programming skills in at least one modern language, particularly Python or TypeScript, supported by solid software design principles and engineering fundamentals.
- Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining APIs and backend services.
- Familiarity with databases, cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, and modern software architecture.
- Practical experience developing document processing workflows and integrating AI or LLM capabilities into production applications.
- Strong knowledge of software testing, code reviews, debugging, performance optimization, and production reliability practices.
- Frontend development experience and the ability to collaborate across the full technology stack are valuable assets.
- Familiarity with products involving complex data, sensitive information, or demanding security requirements is an advantage.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts and communicate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong ownership mentality, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work independently in a collaborative engineering environment.
- Genuine interest in applying technology to specialized workflows, particularly in legal or other complex professional domains.
- Competitive annual base salary ranging from $180,000 to $250,000 USD, depending on skills, experience, and the scope of the role.
- Fully remote working arrangement within the United States.
- Significant ownership and autonomy over engineering projects and technical decisions.
- Direct influence on product direction, architecture, and engineering priorities.
- Opportunity to work on innovative AI-powered solutions and complex document workflows.
- Collaborative engineering environment offering opportunities to contribute to meaningful technical challenges.
