About the role
MES & Equipment Integration Engineer
Connect the shop floor to the data: keep our MES running, link equipment, PLCs and SCADA, and help launch new lines in Tennessee and Alabama.
Minth Tennessee International is looking for an MES & Equipment Integration Engineer to provide daily support for our MES and shop-floor applications and to maintain the data connections between production equipment, PLCs, SCADA, data collection platforms and manufacturing applications. You will keep production running, protect data accuracy and product traceability, and help launch new programs, equipment and production lines.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Daily MES support: support production order execution, material scanning and consumption, production reporting, quality recording, label printing, traceability, user access and operator terminals. Prioritize issues by production impact, resolve common ones independently and coordinate complex ones with the right teams.
- Equipment connectivity and SCADA: help configure, test and maintain data connections between equipment, PLCs, SCADA or industrial gateways and MES, collecting machine status, production counts, downtime, alarms, process parameters and test results. Validate tag mappings, data types, units and timestamps.
- Incident response: use application logs, SQL queries, interface monitoring and equipment information to find where issues occur, work with Automation, Maintenance, Infrastructure and vendors to restore service, and follow through on data recovery, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Process parameters and traceability: link critical process parameters, measurements and test results to serial numbers or batches, operations and equipment, and support approved recipe downloads and exception handling with Process Engineering, Quality and Automation.
- Project launch support: take part in requirements analysis, interface definition, configuration, installation, integration and user acceptance testing, and launch support for new equipment, lines and plant projects, including those in Alabama. Validate normal production, communication interruptions, reconnection and data recovery, and track issues to closure.
- Systems coordination: work with the SAP PP specialist and master data owners to validate MES configurations for production orders, materials, operations and work centers, and, as needed, with the warehouse systems owner and vendors on interfaces to SAP, AS/RS, AGVs and other shop-floor systems.
- Documentation and improvement: maintain interface specifications, tag lists, configuration records, test documentation and troubleshooting guides; train shop-floor users; and improve configurations, monitoring and automation to raise reliability and data quality.
- Changes to equipment control logic and safety interlocks must be reviewed and performed by the responsible specialists.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- At least 2 years of experience implementing or supporting manufacturing systems, including hands-on MES implementation or operational support.
- Understanding of core manufacturing processes (production execution, material consumption, production reporting, quality recording and traceability), with the ability to troubleshoot common MES issues independently.
- Practical equipment-related experience in at least one area, such as equipment connectivity, PLC data acquisition, SCADA configuration, industrial data collection or equipment-to-MES interface commissioning, and the ability to explain your specific contribution.
- Understanding of how PLCs, HMIs, SCADA and MES relate, with the ability to use tag lists, communication settings and system logs to troubleshoot alongside automation or equipment engineers.
- Practical exposure to at least one industrial communication protocol or equipment interface, such as OPC UA, Modbus TCP, Siemens S7 or vendor-specific interfaces, plus basic network troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to use SQL queries, application logs or interface monitoring tools to validate data and investigate issues.
- Strong communication, collaboration and follow-through skills, including clear English communication with plant users, technical teams and vendors, and clear documentation of issues and resolutions.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (A PLUS)
- Experience in automotive components or other discrete manufacturing.
- Familiarity with PLC platforms such as Siemens or Allen-Bradley, including reading logic and performing online diagnostics.
- Experience installing, configuring, commissioning or maintaining SCADA or industrial data collection platforms.
- Practical experience with a programming or scripting language, such as C#, Python or Java.
- Experience integrating data from vision inspection, tightening, press-fit, leak testing or precision measurement equipment, or experience with recipe management, parameter validation and unit-level traceability.
- Experience supporting MES integration with SAP, AS/RS or AGVs, or taking part in new production line or plant launches.
MINIMUM EDUCATION / FIELD OF STUDY
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Automation, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
KEY TO BEING SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE
- Hands-on, curious and a clear communicator who can explain technical issues to plant users and vendors.
- Sound judgment when prioritizing issues by production impact.
- Strong follow-through from root cause to corrective action.
- Comfortable working across Automation, Maintenance, Quality, IT and supplier teams.
- Flexible and able to work adjusted hours and on-call shifts as needed.

- All on-site activities and system changes must follow plant safety and change management requirements.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
