About the role
Occupational Therapist | Home Based NDIS and Community OT (Contractor)
Your caseload, your calendar
Most OT roles hand you a diary. This one hands you a caseload and lets you build the week around it. You’d join a Melbourne allied health practice where OTs, physios and speech pathologists work side by side, and where the work happens in people’s homes more than in a clinic room. You see someone’s kitchen, their stairs and their routines, then work out what will make daily life easier. Home modification work sits alongside the therapy, so your recommendations can turn into real changes in the home.
What you’ll be doing
- Home based and community OT for children, adults and older people
- Functional and daily living assessments, goals and clear, practical reports
- Equipment and assistive technology recommendations
- Supporting clients recovering from injury or surgery, and clients with physical, cognitive or developmental needs
- Working with referrers such as support coordinators, plan managers, GPs and hospitals, who send a steady flow of referrals
- Input into home modification projects, with the chance to build experience in this area
What’s on offer
- Contractor arrangement with real control over how you schedule your week
- Referral pipeline from established referrers, so you can build to a full caseload
- Colleagues across OT, physio and speech to bounce ideas off
- A team that is growing and open to clinicians at any experience level
- Culture that values quality improvement and looking after each other as well as clients
- Small recognition touches for clinicians who go the extra mile for a client
What we’re looking for
- Current AHPRA registration as an Occupational Therapist
- Full Australian working rights
- Own car and a current driver’s licence, as travel to client homes is part of the job
- Confident working independently and organising your own time
- NDIS experience is a plus but not essential
- A warm, practical communicator who is comfortable in clients’ homes and with their families
Locations
- Mill Park: a family friendly northern suburb with plenty of parkland and wetlands, easy road access and a well established local allied health presence.
- Albert Park: a relaxed inner bayside suburb with lakeside walks, good cafes and easy tram and road links into the city.
Home visits are spread across the north, west and inner Melbourne.
