About the role
What We're Building
Mansfield Hall is a living and learning community for neurodivergent college students, students who are capable of college but not yet fully ready for total independence. We organize the work around four areas: Living (independent living skills), Learning (academic and executive functioning), Giving (community involvement), and Engaging (social and emotional growth). Canopy College Coaching is the part of our work this role focuses on most.
This role is how the right students and families find us. As our Outreach and Admissions Counselor, you build relationships with the schools and professionals who refer families, guide those families from first inquiry through enrollment, and hand them off to our program with care. You report to the Vice President, Enrollment Management.
This is a full time, remote role, based in Illinois, Massachusetts, Oregon, Vermont, or Wisconsin with 2-6 weeks of travel per year.
What You'll Actually Do
- Manage incoming inquiries and guide mission-appropriate students and families through the full sales cycle, from first contact to closing to program handoff, with a specific focus on Canopy College Coaching
- Meet enrollment targets across all of our residential sites
- Connect with families by phone, email, video conference, digital communication, and on-site visits as needed
- Travel across the country for about 2-6 weeks a year to build and maintain relationships with schools, external stakeholders, and industry professionals
- Build brand awareness and open new referral streams while managing the stakeholder relationships we already have
- Work with the Vice President, Enrollment Management and the admissions team to enhance and diversify our marketing and outreach
- Collaborate on branding, collateral, web, and digital presence so that our mission, vision, and values come through clearly
- Act as the liaison between the Canopy College Coaching team and the admissions team, so both teams stay aligned
- Visit one of our residential sites regularly, build trust with staff, and provide backup tour coverage when admissions staffing is short
Why This Might Not Be the Job for You
- You see sales as a product, rather than helping a family decide whether the program is the right fit
- You are uncomfortable being measured on enrollment targets and conversions
- You prefer to wait for leads instead of building new referral streams
- You need a standard weekday schedule; we flex evenings and weekends to meet families when they are available
- You don't want to be away from home for 2-6 weeks a year
- You want a shared office; this is a remote role, with a home office you provide
- You don't live in Illinois, Massachusetts, Oregon, Vermont, or Wisconsin, or can't get to one of our residential sites regularly
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in education, behavioral sciences, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Two to five years of professional experience in sales, business development, admissions, enrollment, or outreach, with direct responsibility for generating leads, managing a pipeline, and meeting or exceeding conversion or enrollment targets
- A demonstrated sales track record, an established network of referral sources (such as educational consultants, therapists, and school and college counselors), or both
- Two or more years of experience working in or with diverse learners, higher education settings, multiple stakeholders, or a combination of these
- Knowledge of and experience with some of the following: Neurodiversity, Autism, Executive Functioning Challenges, Anxiety and Stress Management, Young Adult Development, Collaborative Problem Solving, Motivational Interviewing, Social Thinking, Universal Design, and Restorative Practices
- Consultative selling skills: the interpersonal strength to understand what a student and family need and guide them toward enrollment
- Excellent oral and written communication that builds engagement, sets clear expectations, and leads to conversions
- Self-management, time management, and the ability to prioritize leads and meet enrollment targets independently in a hybrid environment
- Adaptability and resilience: you stay solutions-focused and persistent when things get hard
- Competence with Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and video conferencing tools, and the agility to pick up new software platforms
- High standards of professionalism and integrity, both virtual and in person, and a commitment to our mission and values
- A dedicated, professional home office with reliable high-speed internet
