About the role
Job Description:
Platform Engineer (IC2)
Member Solutions
THE COMPANY
Member Solutions is a 35-year-old billing platform serving martial arts schools, fitness studios, and specialty member-based businesses. A longtime client recently described Member Solutions as “a Titan of the industry in 2015.” We are rebuilding to be worthy of that description again — with AI-native tooling doing the compounding, real client relationships at the operator layer, and a Full-Stack Sales and Implementation Lead as the person clients meet first, work with through onboarding, and stay in touch with as they grow. This role is a critical part of that rebuild.
POSITION
We're looking for a Platform Engineer to keep our AWS platform running reliably and make it easier for everyone to understand and operate. This role is about communication, organization, and process. You'll turn what we know about our platform into playbooks, monitoring and alerting, and documentation that any engineer can pick up and rely on. You'll keep our existing infrastructure healthy, patched, and well understood, and you'll keep people informed when things change or go wrong. This is an operations-focused role. You'll work with the platform as it exists today rather than designing new infrastructure or setting technical direction. Deep architectural experience is not required.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Document our platform systems, environments, and configurations, and own the platform knowledge base so it stays current and easy to find.
- Build and maintain playbooks for routine operations, deployments, recovery, and common incidents, updating them after every incident or significant change.
- Maintain dashboards and alerts for platform services, make sure every alert is actionable and linked to a playbook, and help software teams connect their services to monitoring.
- Keep engineering, support, and leadership informed about platform changes, maintenance, and incidents. During incidents, coordinate status updates, capture the timeline, and draft the postmortem write-up.
- Keep existing infrastructure healthy and patched, handle routine AWS work such as access and resource changes, and maintain existing CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code using established patterns and peer review.
- Fix security findings on platform systems, including patches, access changes, and configuration fixes.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2+ years of experience in cloud operations, systems administration, infrastructure support, or a similar role.
- Hands-on working experience with core AWS services.
- Comfort reading and making changes to Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) with peer review.
- Experience maintaining dashboards and alerts in a monitoring tool (Datadog, Cloudwatch or similar).
- Basic scripting ability (Bash, Python, or PowerShell).
- Strong written communication. You enjoy writing documentation and playbooks that other people can actually follow.
- An organized, process-minded approach to your work.
- An AWS certification (for example AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or SysOps Administrator – Associate). No certifications are required.
- Experience with CI/CD tools.
- Experience participating in incident response or writing postmortems.
- Experience working on a team distributed across time zones.
