Position Summary
We are seeking a Product Life Cycle (PLC) Supply Program Manager (NPME) New Product Manufacturing Engineer to lead manufacturing readiness for new and evolving semiconductor equipment platforms from early design through Alpha, Beta, and production release.
This role serves as a critical bridge between Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Product Safety, Field Service, and Program Management, ensuring new equipment is not only technically functional, but also safe, manufacturable, repeatable, serviceable, and ready for customer deployment.
The Manufacturing Engineer will have direct responsibility for manufacturing deliverables within the Product Life Cycle (PLC), including readiness assessments, manufacturing risk identification and closure, BOM maturity, assembly and test readiness, PFMEA, documentation, training, and objective evidence supporting tollgate approval.
Key Responsibilities
- PLC Governance & Tollgate Readiness
- Own Manufacturing deliverables and readiness evidence for applicable Concept, Design, Alpha, Beta, and production release tollgates.
- Participate actively in PLC/tollgate reviews and provide an objective assessment of manufacturing readiness.
- Ensure PLC deliverables are completed with appropriate evidence rather than relying on schedule status alone.
- Identify readiness gaps early and establish owner, corrective action, and committed closure date.
- Do not recommend release when material manufacturing or safety risks remain without an approved mitigation and escalation path.
- Support controlled risk acceptance and tollgate bypass processes when business conditions require an exception.
- Manufacturing Readiness & NPI Execution
- Lead manufacturing readiness for prototype, DLAB, Alpha, Beta, and initial production equipment builds.
- Develop and validate manufacturing assembly and test sequences.
- Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) feedback into Engineering.
- Ensure tooling, fixtures, procedures, test capability, factory resources, and training are available before production transfer.
- Conduct manufacturing readiness reviews before critical builds and customer shipments.
- Capture lessons learned from early builds and systematically incorporate them into subsequent configurations.
- Risk Identification & Closure
- Lead or actively participate in PFMEA, manufacturing risk assessments, CAPA, and nonconformance closure.
- Maintain clear visibility of outstanding manufacturing risks by severity, owner, containment, corrective action, and closure date.
- Challenge incomplete or unsupported risk closures.
- Drive root-cause and permanent corrective action rather than accepting repeated containment.
- Escalate risks that could affect equipment safety, quality, customer shipment, installation, or sustained production.
Ensure
- a. BOM & Configuration Readiness.
- B. Quality & Repeatability
- C. Production Release Readiness
Before recommending manufacturing release, ensure that applicable items are complete or have formally approved closure plans, including:Manufacturing safety risks, PFMEA actions, BOM and configuration maturity, Critical supplier/material readiness, Assembly and test procedures, Manufacturing tooling and fixtures, Training requirements, Manufacturing and supplier quality risks, Open nonconformances and CAPAs, Packaging and shipment requirements, Factory capacity and resource readiness, Labor/time assumptions Outstanding PLC manufacturing deliverables
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of manufacturing, NPI, equipment engineering, product engineering, or related experience in a complex capital-equipment environment.
- Hands-on experience introducing complex electro-mechanical equipment into production.
- Demonstrated experience with:
- NPI / product lifecycle processes, PFMEA and structured risk management, DFM / DFA, BOM and engineering change control, Root-cause analysis and CAPA, Manufacturing work instructions and test procedures, Equipment safety and manufacturing safety, Production release/readiness reviews
- Ability to work effectively across Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Product Safety, Field Service, and Program Management.
