About the role
The Shevick group is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team in early-to-mid 2027. This role offers opportunities to lead projects in synthetic methodology and/or complex molecule synthesis, with a focus on two key areas:
- Synthetic Methodologies in Radical Chemistry: This project explores the generation of radical intermediates and their application to carbon–carbon bond-forming reactions.
Organosulfur Chemistry: This project develops transition-metal-catalyzed approaches to organosulfur coupling reactions and establishes robust analytical methods to characterize the products.
The candidate will collaborate closely with graduate and undergraduate students in the lab. Results will be disseminated through high-impact, peer-reviewed scientific journals and presentations at scientific conferences.
Qualifications
- A Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Synthetic Chemistry, or a closely related discipline, completed prior to the agreed-upon start date.
- Hands-on laboratory experience in synthetic organic chemistry including demonstrated expertise in reaction development and/or ability to design and execute multi-step synthetic routes. Experience with air-sensitive techniques (glovebox, Schlenk line).
- Proficiency in structural characterization techniques (NMR, MS, GC/HPLC, etc.)
- Strong track record of peer-reviewed publications in high-impact chemistry journals.
- Commitment to a safe and inclusive laboratory environment.
- Prior experience mentoring junior lab members or leading collaborative research efforts is desired.
