About the role
This job vacancy will be advertised to the public through local employment agencies and publications following this internal posting if needed.
Seeking a leader who will manage multiple new product launch projects concurrently while also supporting and balancing the needs of the project engineering team. Strongly-qualified candidates will be excellent communicators who understand how to ensure accountability and follow-through and who have developed a strong knowledge of RFCs products and processes.
Lead Engineering. Develop People. Deliver Successful Launches.
Bring your engineering leadership and project execution experience to voestalpine Roll Forming Corporation. As Project Engineering Manager, you will lead and develop a team of Project Engineers, guiding new products from initial project handoff through design, tooling, equipment, process development, validation, customer approval, and full production. You will connect technical execution with business results—delivering projects safely, on time, within budget, and to customer expectations.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and develop your team: Assign projects, balance workloads and resources, coach engineers, and oversee hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management.
- Own launch execution: Coordinate cross-functional teams from project definition through production release and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) approval.
- Keep projects on track: Develop integrated schedules, monitor milestones and budgets, identify risks, and implement corrective actions when timing, cost, quality, or performance varies from plan.
- Guide technical decisions: Support equipment, tooling, automation, fixtures, process capability, and design for manufacturability and assembly (DFMA).
- Drive production readiness: Oversee applicable equipment design, procurement, build, delivery, installation, commissioning, qualification, and validation activities.
- Connect engineering and business priorities: Partner with Sales and Estimating on requests for quotation (RFQs), manufacturing concepts, capital requirements, technical solutions, and launch assumptions.
- Protect project financial performance: Monitor tooling, capital, engineering, and launch spending; identify potential overruns; and communicate customer-driven scope changes for commercial review.
- Build strong partnerships: Collaborate with Product Development, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Tooling, customers, and suppliers to resolve issues and meet commitments.
- Improve how we launch: Standardize reporting, track meaningful metrics, and apply lessons learned to strengthen project controls and future launches.
Experience You’ll Bring
The role includes Manager I, II, and III levels. Placement reflects scope, complexity, strategic impact, autonomy, and leadership responsibilities—not years of experience alone.
- Manager I: At least 2 years of related experience in new product launch or project leadership, plus at least 2 years leading teams or managing others.
- Manager II: At least 5 years of related experience in new product launch or project leadership, plus at least 5 years leading teams or managing others. Responsibilities include optimizing resources across projects, improving launch processes and project controls, mentoring senior contributors, and resolving escalations.
- Manager III: At least 7 years of related experience in new product launch or project leadership, plus at least 7 years leading teams or managing others. Responsibilities include leading highly complex or strategic programs, establishing functional standards, advising senior leadership, and building long-term organizational capability.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously with competing priorities.
- Preferred: Experience in roll forming, metal forming, high-volume manufacturing, or a related engineered manufacturing environment.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
- MBA preferred.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
Work Authorization Requirement: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship. RFC is not able to sponsor employment visas for this position.
Work Setting & Expectations
This position is based onsite in Shelbyville, Kentucky, with occasional work-from-home flexibility and occasional travel. Work takes place in office and manufacturing settings and includes frequent walking through facilities, equipment inspections, computer-based work, and driving between locations. Manufacturing areas may involve loud noise, moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles. The role includes regularly lifting or moving up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds.
