About the role:

As a Project Manager in our Slate studio in Fort Collins, you will lead commercial furniture installation projects from concept to completion, with a focus on technical excellence, client satisfaction, and successful project delivery. Serving as a primary point of contact for delivery and installation, this role manages timelines, budgets, and communication across customers, internal teams, installers, subcontractors, and other project partners.

This is a hands-on role that balances on-site coordination with project planning and oversight. Managing multiple projects at different stages requires the ability to navigate competing priorities and proactively address challenges to keep work on schedule and within budget. The role plays a key part in bringing each project across the finish line, delivering quality work and a client experience that builds lasting relationships.

What you’ll do:

  • Own commercial furniture project lifecycles from purchase order through closeout, ensuring scope, deliverables, and key milestones align with customer expectations.
  • Develop project plans and coordinate procurement and installation logistics, including resource allocation, labor estimates and quotes, shipment arrival dates, installation schedules, pre-installation meetings, site readiness, and delivery requirements.
  • Oversee installation execution and quality through site visits and punch walks, providing direction to internal and external teams, and ensuring work meets project specifications and quality standards.
  • Manage subcontractor relationships, including obtaining quotes, issuing POs, coordinating schedules, inspecting work, and identifying opportunities to improve installation performance.
  • Oversee project labor budgets and financial tracking, monitoring costs, assessing risks, and identifying opportunities to control expenses and maintain profitability.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for customers and project stakeholders, including GCs, Owner’s Representatives, A&D firms, end users, and internal teams, providing timely communication and proactively resolving issues.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and weekly status updates, including vendor arrival dates, outstanding issues, photos, action items, and weekly reports using tools such as PlanGrid and Bluebeam.
  • Lead project closeout activities, including resolution of outstanding items, invoicing and closeout documentation, lessons learned, and process improvements.

Requirements

Who you are:

  • 3+ years of experience in commercial furniture, interior construction, or a related industry, with experience as a project manager, installation manager, or similar role.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to independently manage calendars, tasks, priorities, and multiple projects at different stages.
  • Experienced in project planning and scheduling, including mapping project stages, establishing key milestones, and coordinating resources.
  • Clear, professional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build productive relationships with customers, contractors, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the flexibility to navigate competing priorities, changing conditions, and project challenges.
  • Financial acumen with experience in budgeting, cost estimation, labor costs, financial tracking, forecasting, identifying project risks, and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Knowledge of commercial furniture systems, furniture design principles, construction techniques, materials, installation logistics, installation system analysis, and warranty processes. Familiarity with Steelcase or similar commercial furniture systems is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, including Excel and Outlook, and project or construction management tools. Experience with PlanGrid, Bluebeam, or Procore, along with OSHA 10 or PMP certification, is a plus.

Work Environment:

This full-time role is based in Fort Collins, CO and requires on-site presence Monday-Friday, either in the office or at project sites throughout Northern Colorado. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required for travel between job sites. Occasional travel outside of Colorado may be required based on project needs and could include overnight stays.

Compensation:
