Mō te Tūranga | About the Role:
We’re looking for an experienced senior leader to join our Customer, Product & Services team as Propositions Portfolio Lead. This role can be based in Auckland or Wellington.
Reporting to the Head of Wealth & Insurance - Partnerships and Proposition, you’ll lead the creation, enhancement and end-to-end management of BNZ Wealth and Insurance propositions. You’ll own a clear, insight-led roadmap that balances short-term value with long-term strategic opportunities, aligned to BNZ’s cohort strategy. You’ll draw on your technical product experience in wealth and/or insurance to shape propositions that are well designed, compliant and commercially sound.
This is a key senior leadership role that will help shape the future of Wealth & Insurance at BNZ. You’ll drive the direction for our propositions and play a leading role in how they are designed, developed and brought to life across the bank. Working closely with BNZ’s banking domains, you’ll embed Wealth & Insurance into our core banking propositions, ensuring they show up at the right time for customers and respond to their needs, while delivering strong commercial outcomes. You’ll also lead a talented team, building a collaborative culture with clear ownership and a strong focus on execution.
What you’ll do day-to-day:
- Lead the development and delivery of our wealth and insurance propositions roadmap, making sure each proposition delivers exceptional customer outcomes and a sustainable competitive advantage.
- Prioritise, sequence and deliver initiatives that drive BNZ’s strategic goals
- Partner with internal stakeholders and external partners to bring propositions to life.
- Lead compelling internal and external communications across channels, ensuring messaging is clear, engaging, aligned to strategy and delivered in market with excellence.
- Ensure technical accuracy, governance and regulatory compliance across all proposition content and processes.
- Secure development funding for initiatives and manage your cost centre and team spend within plan.
- Provide clear direction so your team understands desired outcomes, success measures and key milestones, removing blockers and resolving ambiguity so they can deliver efficiently.
- Build a high performing team through coaching, goal setting and development plans, across both your direct team and matrixed ways of working.
About You:
You’re an experienced financial services leader with deep wealth and/or insurance knowledge, strong commercial judgement and a talent for turning customer insight into a focused, achievable roadmap.
You’ll also bring:
- 7+ years’ experience in financial services, including significant wealth and/or insurance experience.
- Strong technical product knowledge in wealth and/or insurance (such as KiwiSaver, investments, life, health or general insurance), including how products are designed, priced, distributed and governed, and the regulatory requirements that shape them.
- An understanding of how wealth and insurance products are distributed at scale, particularly within a banking environment, is advantageous.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships with and across partnerships.
- Experience creating and managing business cases, including managing spend within budget.
- Extensive experience managing the overall customer experience, including root cause investigation, lead identification, proposition development and conduct management.
- Strong commercial acumen to identify key focus areas and support sound business decisions.
- Senior management experience, with a track record of developing individuals and teams to drive performance.
