About the role
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer based in the United States.
Join a growing healthcare technology organization dedicated to improving patient outcomes through innovative medication management solutions powered by AI, machine learning, and clinical expertise. As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of software applications that support better healthcare decisions. You will develop and scale automated testing frameworks, strengthen end-to-end quality practices, and help prevent defects before they reach production. Working closely with engineering, product, and QA leadership, you will contribute to a proactive, data-driven quality culture. This role offers the opportunity to influence testing strategies, explore AI-powered quality tools, and solve complex technical challenges across distributed systems. If you are passionate about software reliability and meaningful healthcare innovation, this is an opportunity to make a measurable impact.
Accountabilities
- Test Strategy and Execution: Design and execute comprehensive, risk-based test strategies and plans for complex product features, system releases, and architectural changes, ensuring applications meet functional and technical requirements.
- Test Automation: Develop, maintain, and scale robust automated testing frameworks to increase test coverage, improve repeatability, and support reliable validation across frontend interfaces and backend services.
- Quality Engineering Practices: Promote standardized testing methodologies, coding standards, quality policies, and release-readiness criteria across engineering teams, incorporating shift-left testing practices throughout the development lifecycle.
- AI-Driven Testing Innovation: Explore and implement AI-enabled tools and techniques to modernize testing workflows, improve efficiency, and strengthen quality engineering capabilities.
- Quality Gates and Release Assurance: Maintain automated quality gates within development pipelines, prevent regressions, and provide primary quality sign-off through comprehensive system, data, and user-interface validation.
- Technical Investigation and Debugging: Analyze system logs, investigate complex defects, perform root cause analysis, develop diagnostic scripts, and conduct system integrity checks across distributed environments.
- Performance and Security Testing: Contribute to performance engineering, load testing, and security scanning activities to help identify vulnerabilities, scalability constraints, and reliability risks.
- Defect Management: Document, prioritize, and track high-impact defects, collaborating with development teams to ensure timely resolution and prevent recurring issues.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering architects, product managers, QA leadership, and other engineers to translate business requirements into measurable acceptance criteria and effective testing approaches.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify testing gaps and systemic quality challenges, participate in code reviews, share technical expertise, and recommend improvements to testing tools, processes, and engineering standards.
- Quality Communication: Clearly communicate testing results, release risks, technical findings, and recommendations to engineering teams and relevant stakeholders.
- Professional Experience: At least 3 years of specialized quality engineering experience, particularly with scalable applications, distributed systems, and enterprise-level test automation.
- Test Automation Expertise: Demonstrated experience building, maintaining, and improving automated testing frameworks for complex software environments.
- Frontend and Backend Testing: Strong capabilities in testing modern web applications, validating backend business logic, and working with microservices architectures.
- API Testing: Hands-on experience with different API protocols and testing methodologies, including integrating automated checks into pre-deployment workflows.
- Programming and Scripting: Strong debugging and scripting skills, with the ability to automate test data setup, validate complex workflows, investigate system logs, and develop diagnostic tools.
- Quality Methodologies: Solid understanding of modern QA practices, including risk-based testing, Behavior-Driven Development (BDD), defect triage, and Agile/Scrum development processes.
- Performance and Security: Familiarity with performance engineering, load testing, security scanning, and the implications of cloud infrastructure for deployment and testing strategies.
- Observability and Troubleshooting: Experience using observability tools and tracing defects across distributed systems to identify root causes and maintain system integrity.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to turn ambiguous business requirements into precise test plans, measurable acceptance criteria, and comprehensive validation strategies.
- Communication and Collaboration: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical quality risks and findings to engineers, product stakeholders, and leadership.
- Ownership and Initiative: Ability to work independently, proactively challenge unclear requirements, communicate progress and blockers, and take responsibility for assigned deliverables.
- Work Authorization: Must reside in the United States, be legally eligible to work in the country, and successfully pass a background check.
- Remote Work Setup: Must have a dedicated, private workspace and reliable, low-latency internet suitable for uninterrupted video calls and daily remote work.
