Make a real difference in your community
Are you passionate about helping others live safer, healthier, more independent lives? Join our team at Waythrough and support people facing challenges around mental health, substance use, housing or domestic abuse. This is more than just a job – it’s a chance to build meaningful relationships and create lasting change.
About the role
At Waythrough, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to live a life they value. We are specialists in mental health, alcohol, drugs and related areas, providing high quality, evidence-based support tailored to the needs of the people and communities we work with.
We are looking for a passionate and motivated Recovery Connector to support the development and sustainability of peer-led recovery services across Northumberland. You will work closely with grassroots organisations, volunteers and voluntary sector partners to strengthen recovery communities and help people access the support they need.
This is an opportunity to make a real difference by bringing communities together, developing meaningful recovery activities and helping local services grow and thrive.
What you will do
- Support the delivery and coordination of peer-led recovery services and interventions.
- Develop community-based recovery activities by working collaboratively with local providers and voluntary organisations.
- Identify grant funding opportunities, prepare funding bids and contribute to fundraising activities.
- Work with smaller providers and voluntary organisations to develop service improvement and sustainability plans.
- Advocate for service users where appropriate, helping them and their families or carers access relevant community support.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with support providers to maximise opportunities for service users and volunteers.
- Promote service user engagement by developing posters, promotional materials, service directories and other resources.
- Maintain accurate records, prepare reports and participate in supervision, appraisals and ongoing training.
- Work in line with relevant legislation, safeguarding requirements, organisational policies and Waythrough's clinical governance framework.
- Work flexibly across operational sites, including some evening and weekend working.
About you
We are looking for someone who is passionate about recovery, community development and helping people achieve positive outcomes. You will be confident building relationships, working collaboratively and developing opportunities that strengthen peer-led support within local communities.
You will have:
- A Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care, or equivalent, or a willingness to work towards one.
- Experience of working collaboratively with voluntary organisations.
- Knowledge of service delivery models and issues relating to recovery planning.
- Experience delivering one-to-one and group therapeutic interventions.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and hidden harm.
- Experience working with families and carers.
- Experience developing project plans, writing reports and presenting information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programmes, including Outlook.
Knowledge of grant funding applications and fundraising would also be beneficial.
Above all, you will share our commitment to treating people with kindness, courage and respect, helping to create inclusive communities where people feel supported and empowered in their recovery.
