About the role
Description
Use your powers for good as a Research Recruitment & Sample Manager for Marketing for Change Co., a national research and creative firm propelled by behavioral science and dedicated to driving positive social change.
We're looking for a resourceful, people-oriented professional to find and engage participants for consumer research, especially people whose voices are often harder to reach.
In this role, you'll build and manage our systems for recruiting participants for focus groups, interviews, online research communities and other qualitative studies. You'll also manage relationships with survey panel and sample providers to help us obtain high-quality samples for quantitative research.
You'll also build relationships with nonprofits, service providers and community organizations to help us reach older adults, people with lower incomes and other audiences traditional research channels often miss.
What You'll Do
- Build and maintain a national community recruitment network of nonprofits, service providers and other trusted organizations that help us reach difficult-to-recruit audiences.
- Develop lasting relationships with community partners and create a system for tracking their audiences, geographic reach and our history working together.
- Build and manage our participant recruitment system, including processes for screening, scheduling, communications, incentives, confirmations and tracking.
- Develop and test creative recruitment strategies across grassroots, community and digital channels to reach specific audiences.
- Manage recruitment for qualitative studies, either directly or through outside recruiting partners, ensuring we meet participant quotas, timelines and quality expectations.
- Build and maintain relationships with survey panel and sample providers, obtaining bids, comparing costs and feasibility, and coordinating sample delivery for quantitative studies.
- Monitor recruitment and sample performance, identify challenges early and work with internal teams and vendors to find solutions.
- Track what works across projects, partners and recruitment methods to improve efficiency, sample quality and representation over time.
Requirements
What We're Seeking
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in community organizing, community outreach, consumer research recruitment, grassroots engagement, field research or similar work.
- A strong relationship builder and organizer who knows how to identify community partners, earn their trust and maintain meaningful connections.
- Someone resourceful and proactive who can figure out how to reach difficult-to-find audiences and adjust approaches when something isn't working.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage recruitment logistics, timelines, participant communications and multiple projects.
- Experience working with outside vendors, including comparing proposals, managing costs and monitoring performance.
- An understanding of, or interest in learning, quantitative research sampling, including panel providers, quotas, incidence, feasibility and sample quality.
- Someone who enjoys building systems and improving processes to make recruitment more efficient, consistent and scalable.
- A collaborative communicator who works well with researchers, strategists, project managers and community partners.
- A commitment to inclusive research and social change, with an interest in ensuring that people affected by important programs and policies have a voice in shaping them.
Job Type: Full-time
Location: Washington, DC metro area preferred. This is a hybrid position requiring in-person work at our DC-area office at least one day per week. We value the collaboration and connection that come from working together in person.
Salary Range: $55,000–$65,000 annually, depending on experience.
