Description
RV Resort General Manager — Gold Canyon Golf and RV Resort, Gold Canyon, Arizona
The Honest Truth About This Job
We want to be upfront, because the right person will appreciate it.
From October through April, Gold Canyon is buzzing. Our winter residents and guests return, the golf course is busy from first tee time to last, the activity calendar is packed, and there are people everywhere you turn: at the clubhouse, on the course, at events, and stopping you on the way across the property to say hello or share an idea. If you love being surrounded by people and thrive on that energy, season here is a joy.
Then summer arrives. Most residents head home, the desert heats up, and the pace changes completely. Summer is our season of “projects and planning.” It’s when we tackle repairs and improvements, review what worked and what didn’t, plan next season’s rates and activities, hire, and get the resort ready to shine again in October. Some people find this stretch focused and rewarding. Others find it slow and isolating. Please think honestly about which one you are before applying.
This Is Not a Behind-the-Desk Role
This isn’t a typical general manager position where you oversee an RV resort from an office. Gold Canyon is a community, and the person in this role is at the center of it. You should genuinely enjoy golf, love being outdoors, and feel at home in a crowd during activities and events. Our residents will know you by name, and you’ll know them by theirs.
Who We’re Looking For
We need a leader who leads with heart and soul. Someone who genuinely cares about residents and guests, looks out for their team, and takes pride in this place like it’s their own.
We also need someone who is not above any task. On any given day, you might be reviewing rates with our revenue manager in the morning, walking the property with the maintenance supervisor at midday, and joining residents at an evening event. If you believe the best leaders roll up their sleeves right alongside their team, we’d love to meet you.
What You’ll Do
- Lead monthly meetings with residents: listen, communicate clearly, and follow through on what you hear
- Work side by side with our Maintenance Supervisor to keep the resort, course, and grounds in excellent shape
- Partner with our Activities Director to create a lively, welcoming community calendar
- Support our Rental Home Manager to make sure our rental homes are fully booked in season
- Work with our Revenue Manager on nightly rates, seasonal pricing, and rental increases
- Manage budgets, staffing, and day-to-day operations
- Lead summer projects and planning so every new season starts stronger than the last
- Be visible, approachable, and present across the property every day
Our Core Values
We hire, lead, and make decisions based on four core values, and we’re looking for someone who already lives them:
- Passion: You love what you do, and it shows.
- Integrity: You do the right thing, even when no one is watching.
- Epic Customer Service: You don’t just meet expectations; you create moments people talk about.
- Resourceful: When something breaks or a plan falls apart, you find a way.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience managing an RV resort, campground, golf community, HOA, or similar hospitality operation
- Comfort with budgets, P&Ls, and revenue conversations
- Strong communication skills, including confidence in front of a room of residents
- A love of people, golf and the outdoors
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and events during peak season
