About the role

Description

Join Safety Controls Technology (SCT), a nationally recognized occupational health and safety consulting firm, and take your career to the next level. We're looking for an experienced Safety Manager / Safety Specialist who's ready for high-visibility work to support major construction and industrial clients across the country. This is a unique opportunity for someone who thrives in the field, enjoys variety, and wants to make a real impact on the safety culture at some of the nation's most dynamic job sites. You'll be the on-site expert driving compliance, reducing risk, and elevating safety performance through hands-on leadership, assessments, training, and incident management.

WHY YOU'LL LOVE THIS ROLE

  • 100% travel with all expenses covered, plus per diem
  • Weekend stay options depending on project location
  • High-visibility work on some of the nation's most dynamic job sites

Ideal Candidate

You're a seasoned safety professional with a minimum of five years of hands-on EHS experience in construction or manufacturing, and you hold your CHST certification (ASP, CSP, GSP or OSHA 510 credentials are a bonus). You thrive on the road, are energized by new job sites and new challenges every week and know how to build trust with client teams fast. You're equal parts auditor, trainer, investigator, and coach, someone who can walk a site, spot the risk before it becomes an incident, and rally a crew around a safety-first mindset.

Requirements

What You'll Do

  • Conduct comprehensive, site-wide safety and health risk assessments to identify hazards and systematically prioritize mitigation efforts
  • Promote and enforce construction site and plant safety compliance in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and industry standards
  • Lead and participate in investigations of recordable injuries, high-risk incidents, illnesses, and near-miss events; perform root cause analyses (RCA) and develop corrective and preventive action plans
  • Prepare detailed incident investigation reports and track corrective actions to closure
  • Support and enhance client safety culture by implementing proactive safety programs, systems, and performance improvement initiatives
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve auditing and inspection processes; conduct annual audits of safety, health, and industrial hygiene programs
  • Perform routine audits of facilities, work practices, and work-in-progress to ensure regulatory and procedural compliance
  • Conduct annual safety risk assessments to quantify risk exposure and prioritize corrective actions, including oversight of contractor activities
  • Perform Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and ergonomic assessments to reduce exposure to workplace hazards
  • Oversee and administer contractor safety programs at client sites
  • Maintain OSHA logs and ensure compliance with all injury and illness recordkeeping requirements
  • Execute and coordinate required safety training programs in accordance with client expectations and OSHA requirements
  • Provide on-site medical response services, including first aid, emergency treatment, and initial illness care for injured or ill employees
  • Coordinate local case management activities, including transportation of injured employees to medical facilities and administration of workers' compensation processes
  • Maintain and update facility safety policies and procedures as part of an Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP) that meets or exceeds OSHA standards
  • Champion SCT's 4E's philosophy (Engages, Enlists, Envisions, and Executes) throughout client organizations
  • Participate in corporate safety leading indicator programs, including metric tracking and monthly meetings

What You'll Need

  • High school diploma required
  • Certified Health and Safety Technician (CHST) required
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in construction and/or manufacturing environments supporting environmental, health, and safety operations
  • Willing to be on the road 100% of the time
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations and applicable ANSI, NIOSH, ACGIH, and NFPA standards
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Valid driver's license required

Preferred Qualifications

  • College degree
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • OSHA 510 certification
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to move throughout construction and industrial environments, including climbing ladders and stairs
  • Ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively within normal parameters
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
